Mon., Mar. 5 - HARTFORD/SAN FRANCISCO We depart Hartford this morning on our California Dreaming Holiday. We arrive in San Francisco in the ear-ly afternoon. Here we begin with an afternoon sightseeing tour of the city. Some of our highlights include: Lombard Street - known as the “crookedest street in the world”, Chinatown and Nob Hill, the highest summit of the city center offering stunning views of the city. Next up is the Pacific Heights, then we make our way through the Presidio to the Golden Gate Park, one of America’s larg-est urban parks! This evening dinner is included at a local restaurant. (D)

Tues., Mar. 6 - SAN FRANCISCO This morning we begin with a ferry trip into San Francis-co Bay to Alcatraz Island. Here we step back in time and experience legendary Alcatraz Island that has been a civil war fort, a military prison and one of the most notorious federal penitentiaries in US history. This memorable tour includes the Alcatraz cell house featuring actual correc-tional officers and prisoners who lived and worked on the Island. The afternoon is at leisure to explore San Francis-co on our own, perhaps to see the sights of Fisherman’s Wharf or have lunch in China Town - the options are endless. (B)

Wed., Mar. 7 - SAN FRANCISCO/SONOMA We leave San Francisco this morning and drive over the Golden Gate Bridge and through the beautiful rolling hills to Muir Woods, a virgin stand of Coastal Redwoods, among the oldest and tallest trees on earth. Nothing can compare with the sense of grandeur and majesty we’ll feel as we walk under the canopy of trees thousands of years old. We drive to Sonoma Valley for lunch followed by a visit to a vineyard for a tour of the estate and a wine tast-ing. In the afternoon we arrive at our hotel in Sonoma, just blocks away from exciting Old Sonoma Plaza, with its boutiques and restaurants. (B,L)

Thurs., Mar. 8 - SONOMA/MONTEREY Our day begins as we travel through the southern reaches of Napa Valley, around the great San Francisco Bay and through the beautiful scenery of Northern California to arrive at the magnificent Monterey Peninsula and the storybook village of Carmel-by-the-Sea, home to white sand beaches and tree-lined streets. You’ll have time to enjoy lunch (on own) and to explore this idyllic hillside town that is home to art galleries, quaint boutiques and the beautiful and historic Carmel Mission.

In the afternoon, we drive the famed 17-Mile Drive, wide-ly recognized as one of the most scenic drives in the world. We will travel through Pacific Grove to Pebble Beach, from the dramatic Pacific coastline to the majestic Del Monte Forest. Along the way, we’ll marvel at some of nature’s treasures including The Lone Cypress – one of California’s best-known landmarks – Spanish Bay, Cy-press Point Lookout and Carmel Bay. We’ll also see the emerald fairways of The Links at Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill and briefly stop at the world-renowned Pebble Beach

Golf Links. In the afternoon we arrive in Monterey for an evening at leisure to explore Cannery Row on our own. (B)

Fri., Mar. 9 – MONTEREY/SANTA BARBARA Today travel south to San Simeon where we enjoy a tour of the famous Hearst Castle. This afternoon we will ar-rive in San Luis Obispo, where we will board California’s Starlight Coastal train for the spectacular journey along the coast, arriving in Santa Barbara in the early evening. Known as the "American Riviera," with a Mediterranean-like feel, Santa Barbara offers downtown beaches, a clas-sic California surfing culture, parks, and great Spanish architecture. We enjoy dinner this evening at a local res-taurant. (B,D)

Sat., Mar. 10 – SANTA BARBARA/LOS ANGELES Today we begin with a drive past historic Stearns Wharf, California's oldest working wharf dating back to 1872, and the bustling Santa Barbara Harbor. Next we visit the fascinating Old Mission Santa Barbara, established in 1786, known as the “Queen of the Missions.” This after-noon we drive to Simi Valley, where we visit the Ronald Reagan Museum and Library, show casing the life and times of President Reagan. We enjoy a wonderful tour of the Library and step aboard the Air Force One that flew President Reagan over 660,000 miles. Late in the after-noon we drive to the famous Santa Monica Pier where we enjoy dinner prior to checking into our hotel. (B,D)

Sun., Mar. 11 – LOS ANGELES Today we enjoy a full day of sightseeing in Los Angeles. We’ll see all of the famous landmarks that we have heard of and seen in the movies, beginning at Olvera Street, the oldest thoroughfare in the city, to Hollywood. We will stop at the super swanky neighborhood of Beverly Hills, where you’ll have a chance to browse high-end designer shops and rub elbows with the fabulously wealthy on Ro-deo Drive. Then we head down the one and only Sunset Strip, where you’ll get a glimpse of legendary hotspots like the Rainbow Room and the House of Blues. Our next stop is Hollywood Boulevard, where you can look for your favorite movie stars on the Walk of Fame and check out their foot-prints and handprints in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. See how your hands measure up to those of the governator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, or child star Shirley Temple. Right around the corner, you will find the Kodak Theatre, where they hold and broadcast the Acade-my Awards. This evening we enjoy our final dinner in California. (B,D)

Mon., Mar. 12 – LOS ANGELES/HARTFORD This morning we enjoy the Sony Pictures Studios Tour and travel back to a legendary time. Located on one of the world's most famous studio lots (formerly MGM), our walking tour gives us a rare glimpse of old Hollywood's glory days and an insider's view of a state-of-the-art mo-tion picture studio. Not only is this the studio where the Yellow Brick Road once wound through Munchkin Land, it is also the place where the agents from "Men In Black"
