SAFETY WARNINGS AND GUIDELINES Please read this entire manual before using this device, paying extra attention to these safety warnings and guidelines. Please keep this manual in a safe place for future reference.

This device is intended for indoor use only.

Do not expose this device to water or moisture of any kind. If moisture does get in or on the device, immediately unplug it from the power outlet and allow it to fully dry before reapplying power.

Do not touch the device, the power cord, or any other connected cables with wet hands.

If operating this speaker in a humid environment, ensure that no condensation occurs. Condensation could cause damage to the speaker cone and could cause a short in the amplifier, which in turn could cause fire or severe electric shock.

Before plugging the unit into a power outlet, ensure that the outlet provides the same type and level of power required by the device.

Ensure that power is turned off and disconnected before making any electrical connections, including speaker wire connections.

INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing this Powered Ceiling Speaker with Bluetooth®! Ceiling speakers are the ideal combination of sound quality and styling. Featuring a removable and paintable magnetic grille, this 2-way speaker uses a DuPont™ Kevlar® woven fiber cone woofer with rubber surround for deep, impactful bass, and a 0.75" silk titanium dome tweeter with 15° pivoting action for smooth, sweet highs.

PAINTING The grilles can be painted to match your ceiling, making the speakers even less noticeable. Perform the following steps to safely paint them without damaging the speakers.

1. Completely remove the grilles by lifting them off the frames.

2. Paint the speaker grilles. It is best to use spray paint to avoid paint clogging the holes.

3. Allow the paint to completely dry before proceeding with installation. Ensure that the holes in the grilles are not blocked by paint.

INSTALLATION TOOLS The following tools are required for installation.

7

INSTALLATION Perform the following steps to install these speakers into your ceiling. Installation requires knowledge of and experience with best building practices. Thoroughly read all of these installation steps before beginning installation. If you do not feel totally comfortable with performing any of these steps, contact a professional installer to perform the installation.

1. Determine where you will mount the master speaker. The master speaker should be mounted near an AC power outlet in the ceiling.

2. Use a stud finder to locate the ceiling studs around the installation location. Mark the edges of the ceiling studs with a pencil.

3. If you have not already done so, remove the grille from each speaker.

4. Place the cutting template against the ceiling in the intended installation location, then mark the cutting line with a pencil.

5. Drill a small hole in the middle of the marked location.

6. Cut open a clothes hanger and straighten it out. Bend the hanger 90° at a point about 6" from the end. Insert the hanger into the pilot hole, then turn it 360° around to ensure that there are no obstructions in the cutting area. If there are obstructions, move the install location and repeat the above steps until you have identified an unobstructed area.

7. Using a drywall saw, cut along the cut line.

8. Repeat the above steps for the slave speaker.

9. Prepare a two-conductor speaker wire for connecting the slave speaker to the master speaker. This wire must be rated for in-wall/in-ceiling use.

10. Connect one end of the speaker wire to the speaker input terminals on the slave speaker, taking care to match the polarity.

11. Using a #2 Philips screwdriver, turn the four dog leg tab mount screws on the slave speaker counterclockwise to retract the tabs.

12. Feed the loose end of the speaker wire through the installation hole, then insert the slave speaker into the speaker installation hole.

8

13. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, turn the four dog leg tab mount screws clockwise to extend the tabs. Continue tightening until the speaker is firmly against the ceiling. Take care not to over-tighten.

14. Determine whether you will want to use these speakers in stereo or mono mode. Slide the stereo/mono switch on the master speaker to the appropriate position.

15. Determine if you will need to limit the volume, then slide the volume limiter switch on the master speaker to the 50% or 100% position, as desired.

16. (Optional) Using a stereo RCA patch cable (not included), plug one end into the RCA input jacks on the master speaker. Next, feed the cable into the installation hole, then connect the other end into the line output of an audio source device, such as a CD player or FM tuner. This cable must be rated for in-wall/in-ceiling use.

17. Connect the speaker wire from the slave speaker to the speaker output connectors on the master speaker, taking care to match polarity.

18. Plug the DC barrel connector on the included AC power adapter into the power input jack on the master speaker. Next, feed the AC power adapter into the installation hole, then plug it into an AC power outlet in the ceiling.

19. Using a #2 Philips screwdriver, turn the four dog leg tab mount screws on the master speaker counterclockwise to retract the tabs.

20. Insert the master speaker into the speaker installation hole.

21. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, turn the four dog leg tab mount screws clockwise to extend the tabs. Continue tightening until the speaker is firmly against the ceiling. Take care not to over-tighten.

9

BLUETOOTH PAIRING The speaker can be paired with up to two Bluetooth® devices simultaneously, but only one connection will be active. If actively connected to one device, the other device cannot be paired and cannot control the speaker. To pair or connect the second device, the connection to the first device must be broken.

Note that when a Bluetooth connection is active, the physical RCA input is disabled. To use the physical RCA input, all Bluetooth connections must be broken.

Perform the following steps to pair this speaker system with a Bluetooth audio source device.

1. When power is first applied the LED indicator on the master speaker will flash rapidly, indicating that the speaker is in Bluetooth pairing mode. If not, press and hold the RESET button for 5 seconds, then release the button. This resets the speaker and puts it into Bluetooth pairing mode.

2. Open the Bluetooth settings on your audio source device and search for available Bluetooth devices. Select the BT Speaker entry.

3. If you want to pair a second device, turn off Bluetooth on the first device. Once the connection is lost, the LED on the master speaker will begin flashing again.

4. Open the Bluetooth settings on your second audio source device and search for available Bluetooth devices. Select the BT Speaker entry.

10

FINE TUNING THE SOUND 1. Start audio playback on one of your audio source devices.

2. Carefully aim the tweeters on the two speakers toward your listening area.

3. If the sound is too bright, slide the Environmental Equalizer switch to the - (minus) position. If the sound is suppressed or muddy sounding, slide the Environmental Equalizer switch to the + (plus) position.

4. Once you are happy with the quality of sound, replace the magnetic grilles onto the two speakers.

Congratulations, your new Bluetooth® ceiling speakers are installed, connected, and tuned for the best possible sound quality!

TROUBLESHOOTING Q1: The Bluetooth speaker cannot be found during the Bluetooth® pairing process.

A1: Check the LED on the master speaker to ensure that the speaker is powered on. Ensure that the LED is flashing, indicating that it is in Bluetooth pairing mode. If not, press and hold the RESET button for 5 seconds to reset the speaker and clear all previous Bluetooth pairings.

Q2: The speaker fails to connect to the Bluetooth device.

A2: Ensure that your Bluetooth device is located as close as possible to the speaker. If your Bluetooth device prompts for a password, type 0000 (four zeros).

Q3: The Bluetooth source device is connected to the speaker, but no sound can be heard.

A3: Verify that your device is playing audio. Ensure that your device is not muted. Increase the volume level.
