Principal’s Corner Dear Fisher Parents, We will be hosting our next monthly School Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. in our Fisher library. For those who may have missed the recent morning Principal’s Chat, I plan to share a recap of the results of our Smarter Balance Assessments taken last spring, along with other assessment information, as it relates to monitoring student progress. In addition, we are convening a new task force dedicated to school climate and culture for the purpose of evaluating current vs. future strategies necessary to mitigate growth impacts relative to the social and emotional needs of our students. I plan to facilitate small group discussion to gather parent input on topics of interest from the task force. As always, general updates regarding daily life at Fisher will also be addressed. Our School Advisory Council meetings are open to the public, so feel free to join us should these topics be of particular interest to you. Principal’s Corner Dear Fisher Parents,

We will be hosting our next monthly School Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. in our Fisher library.

Sincerely,

Lisa Fraser Principal

Fisher Home & School Club - Fundraising Update Did you know?

Classroom Needs Over half of the dollars raised by Home and School Club are spent directly on classroom needs as identified by teachers and staff? Some examples include: science lab materials, sports equipment, $250 per teacher for classroom supplies and literature circle novels.

School-Wide Needs and School Events Most of the remaining Home and School Club dollars are spent on a wide variety of other school needs, such as assignment books for all students, paper for printing classroom handouts, Camp Trojan to orient new students and the Fisher Graduation ceremony.

97% of the money goes directly to supporting our school!

Fisher Home & School Club is excited to announce the

Fisher Musical Theater Production

Mandatory Parent Information Meetings in Fisher Library Tuesday, October 25 at 5:00 pm

Thursday, October 27 at 7:00 pm

Join us this year for a delightfully offbeat adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl adventure! This newly released musical, which premiered in 2013, features a fabulous score by the Tony Award-nominated duo of Pasek and Paul and a quirky book by Timothy Allen McDonald.

The show follows the story of James, a young orphan who escapes from his conniving aunts in the most peculiar way: via a giant peach occupied by various, not-so-normal characters!

Fisher kids, remember to get your application in for this splendiferously peachy, Dahlesque adventure – you are going to love playing the outlandish characters and performing brand new material from one of Broadway’s hottest duos.

Visit the play website for more information.

Fisher Online School Directory

This online directory replaces the printed “buzz books” of previous years.  You will have access to parent contact information for your school from your computer, tablet or smart phone.

Do I have to be a Fisher Home & School Club member to use the directory?

Yes. Just like the “buzz books” from past years, the cost of the online directory is included with your Fisher Home & School Club membership and Fuel the Fund donations.

If you are not already a member, you can join now.  It may take a few days after you join for access the complete directory to be enabled.

If you have any questions about the directory or have issues accessing, please contact [email protected].

Please note: The Fisher Directory access was activated after October 15.  If you tried accessing prior to that date, you would only be able to see your own information.  If you are a paid Fisher H&SC member, access was granted as of October 15.  Please try again.

Fisher Middle School Field & Track Restoration Project Los Gatos Union School District and Los Gatos United Soccer League are teaming up to restore the sports fields at Fisher Middle School to a state of the art sports venue. LGUSD has generously approved $3.2 million in funding and Los Gatos United Soccer is working to raise an additional $1 million. The additional $1 million from fundraising will be used to enhance the project with artificial turf for the main field inside the new synthetic track. The result will be a new state-of-the-art track and field system that will benefit the entire community, Fisher Middle School students and Los Gatos United soccer teams.

Project Plan Timeline Construction of the restoration project is scheduled to kick-off 6/1/2017. The project is scheduled to complete on 10/31/17. Scope • Reconfigure layout of existing fields • Install new synthetic track • Improve drainage • Re-sod all remaining field areas with natural grass • Install artificial turf on the main track field

Fundraiser Event: Coming Together for the Last Mile We only have until 3/1/17 to raise the additional $1 million in funding. So we need to come together as a community now to make this happen. LGUSD and LGUSL are jointly hosting an event to kick off the fundraiser and present the plan and goals of the Fisher Middle School field restoration project.

Date: October 25th, 2016 Time: 6:30pm

Presentation Location: Fisher Middle School Gym Follow-on Event: C.B. Hannegan’s (patio)

We are graciously inviting all members of the Los Gatos community, parents of children in the Los Gatos Union School District and that play soccer in the Los Gatos United Soccer League to please attend the event on 10/25/16. Every donation amount will help us reach our goal of $1 million. And we’re not just reaching out to families in the community. We have efforts underway to connect with Los Gatos-based businesses to ask for their sponsorship in the field redevelopment project. Together as a community, we can make this happen for our kids!
