Thanks to All Who Helped Make the Eighth Annual Sew-a-Thon Successful

Many thanks to all who worked, donated items for the silent auction, or donated money or items for the Bags of Love. The eighth annual Sew-a-Thon was an overwhelming success. Ninety-nine people participated, with forty-seven women sewing. Fifteen quilt tops were completed, with an additional 36 in various stages of completion. The Mission Sewing Group will spend the next several months completing the tops and mak-ing them into quilts. The “silent auction” and the sales table raised a little over $1,000 for the Mission Sewing Group. Approximately $500 and many boxes full of items for the “Bags of Love” were donated.

A special thank you goes to Shirley Dukes and her cooking team for the

delicious lunch and to Wal-Mart, H-E-B, and Sam’s for donating much of

the food for the lunch.

Congratulations to Kyle Walker for Lifetime Achievement Award

On Jan 21st Kyle was awarded the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Association Lifetime Achievement Award, at the annual Championship Awards Ban-quet. It is the highest award given, and he was honored as a legend in the sport. Kyle raced for over 25 years in 14 different classes of drag boats. He had over 600 passes in the Top Fuel Hydro class and held the speed record at 239 mph in a quarter mile track. Along with the award, he was surprised with the arrival of his family to share in the announce-ment and the evening's event.

Family Promise Thanks

The Mission Ministry would like to thank all the volunteers who partici-pated in the January 22-29 Family Promise visit. We had one family for the week: parents, Juan and Angelika, and children, Joey (7), Rikki (4) and Izzy (3). Our last family, LaTwon and her three daughters, are living in an apartment and are very happy. Our next Family Promise visit will be the week of March 26th.

FPC Women’s Retreat 2017

Women’s Retreat Day Camper registrations are still available for Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Camp Allen in Navasota. To register, please contact Ednelza Hen-derson (ednelzamhenderson@yahoo.com) or Sally DeStefano (sally.destefano@gmail.com), or request a registration form from the Church Office. Rev. Caressa Murray is the guest speaker, with the theme, “Christian Sisterhood in Faith”. The cost is $85 for the day, including lunch and dinner.
