October 3 Escambia County Extension Master Gardeners Fall Garden Festival and Plant Sale. The event is from 8 am to 12 noon at the Escambia County Demonstration Garden, 3740 Stefani Rd. October 6 FFGC District I Fall meeting and Petite Small Standard Flower Show, St. Mary's Parish Life Center, Ft Walton Beach. Hosted by Garnier Beach Garden Club. State officers attending.
October 7 Walton County Master Gardeners present: "Seed Collecting and Plant Propagation". This discussion will focus on expanding your garden using the plant material you already grow. Master Gardeners will demonstrate seed collection (annuals, vegetables) and propagation through plant cuttings, root division and air layering. Walton County Extension Coastal Branch Office, 70 Logan Lane in Grayton Beach at 10:00 AM. Free and open to the public. October 20 Pensacola Camellia Club: Garden Center, “Camellias 101.” In his power-point presentation he will discuss the basics of appreciating camellia blooms. He will discuss flower forms, sizes and color and how they developed. LeAnna Brennan will discuss propagation of camellias by air-layering. 1850 N. 9th Ave., starts with social and refreshment time at 6:30 p.m. and the program begins at 7:00. It is free and open to the interested public.
