THE SWIMMING program concludes this week. Thanks very much to the parents who have been along to the pool.
Thanks also to the staff who have managed the day-to-day supervision of the program in Andrew Higgins’ absence.
Thanks also to Andrew Higgins for his work behind the scenes. Despite not being physically at work, he has done a lot
of work behind the scenes to organise staff etc. to ensure that we can field a team for the swimming carnival that will
take place next Thursday. Notes will go home to the students who are involved in the swim team. Teachers Andrew
Reardon and Sandra Dovey will do the 3me trials and will be assisted by Cassie Moore and the swim teacher Helen.
Thanks everyone for ge5ng this up and going.
WE WILL have our first assembly on Monday. It will be good to welcome everyone back for 2017 and to introduce our
new staff and students. There will also be a performance so look forward to seeing everyone then! A8er the assembly
on the 20th
February, we would like to ask anyone who is available to join us in the staffroom for coffee and a chat!
A SCHOOL COUNCIL year runs from March to February. We have our final 2016/2017 mee3ng on the 15th
February. On
the 15th
of March, the night begins with the AGM. At this mee3ng, a finance report is presented to School Council. The
presiding President hands the chair over to the Principal. All vacant posi3ons are declared and all execu3ve posi3ons
are vacated. Execu3ve posi3ons are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The Principal then reads the
nomina3ons for the vacancies and fills these: a8er this part of the process is completed, there should be a commi@ee
of 12 people. The AGM then closes and the Principal then begins the March mee3ng. The first business is to call for
nomina3ons of the execu3ve posi3ons, they are filled, and the mee3ng is then handed over to the President for chair-
ing.
All school council members are required to be acve members of the School Council and a sub- commi@ee. It is not an
onerous task but is one that requires commitment and a desire to be involved in the big picture planning of the school.
When we come together as School Council members, we are ‘one’. We do not come to the School Council table with a
personal agenda or expecta3on. The role of School Councillor is an interes3ng one as it allow you to see how schools
operate. The role is also a confiden3al one, Council members are expected publicly and privately to support the deci-
sions made by the School Council body.
You can also be on a sub-commi@ee without needing to join the School Council. The PFA is always looking for new
membership so if you want to know more about the PFA or any of our other sub-commi@ees – just ask!
Here is the 3metable of events for School Council.

Week 1, Term 1
This week we are getting back into the swing of school and enjoying hearing the exciting adventures and sto-
ries everyone has to share from their holidays. To document these, we are making posters where children can
draw and write about their favourite holiday moments, and making New Year’s Resolutions for the experienc-
es we are excited about this year and goals we want to set.
Quick note from Tessa
It has been wonderful to see all the children again, and hearing all about their amazing holidays! I am very
excited to take on the Coordinator role at Wattleview OSHC program while Manisha is visiting her family in
India. She will be returning on the 27th of February and she is very excited to see all the children again. We will
continue to make children smile and provide a program full of excitement and fun.
PARENTS PLEASE NOTE:
It is of high importance that you cancel your child if they are NOT attending either before or after school care.
If any parents have any ideas of what they would like to see happen in before and after school care, please drop in for a chat we are always looking for new ideas!
Does your child do any outer school activities? If so, we would love to have some brochures to put in our community folder to help recruit any other children that are looking for outer school activities!
We’re here to make after school care visits the best experience possible – for you and your child.
If you have any questions about the program – please feel free to drop by, meet the team and see what hap-
pens in after school care first hand.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

CE DANCE CLUB.
My name is Clare Cornell and I run "CE DANCE CLUB".
I am a self-mo3vated and crea3ve professional dancer with over 40 years experience in jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, funk, contemporary, lyrical
and Broadway styles. I am also an ex gymnast and have coached gymbaroo, gymnas3cs and acroba3cs.
I have been teaching dance and choreographing school produc3ons in various primary schools around the Knox area for the last 10 years and
I will be con3nuing teaching at WVPS throughout 2017.
Dancing and performing are great ways to build fitness and confidence in children, and having lessons during lunch3mes is convenient for
parents too, not having to drive to outside dance schools in the evenings or on weekends.
CE DANCE CLUB has performed at many events, including schools Open Nights, Performance Nights, Grandparents Shows, School Produc-
3ons, Christmas Carols Shows and various school assemblies. We have also performed at The Knox Fes3val, The Oxfam Fes3val and The Victo-
rian Dancefair Compe33on where we have won the solo, duo, team and troupe events!
Classes are held during Monday or Tuesday lunch3mes in the school gym.
Price is $10 per 45 minute class, and a term fee is required on enrolment.
School uniform is worn during class, and bare feet - therefore no dance uniform or dancing shoes will be required.
A costume is provided to all members whenever we are performing, you will not be required to purchase one at any 3me.
CE DANCE CLUB is for both girls AND boys!
At the end of February I will be running a FREE TRIAL CLASS for any PREP/FOUNDATION students who are interested in joining.
Any other students wishing to join up are also welcome to do so at any 3me.
Please contact Clare for more details on - 0417031233
or via email on - [email protected]
