From the Principal Family fun night What a great night it was! Many thanks to all the children who were very well behaved and did the school proud. The volunteers from Life Ministry did a fantastic job of running all the activities and a huge thank you to Peter, our chaplain who organized the event. He even came out in the morning to blow the leaves from the court. Having Channel 10 come out to do the weather segment was very exciting! One of our students, Charlee T, invited them to come out to the ‘best school jn the world’ and we certainly did look our best. Our school captains spoke about their future aspirations and Zoe even sang a few bars of Mendez. Wow!! School Council Our newly formed School Council met the other night to elect office bearers and I am pleased to announce that Brad Mayall is our new School Council President. It may be timely to remind you all that the school council members are your representatives to speak on your behalf. So I would encourage you to speak to one of them if you would like anything raised for discussion at School Council. School Council’s role is to make decisions regarding school policy and fund raising. However it does not make decisions on school operations such as staffing or school programs although at times I may ask for feedback in certain areas. This year we have big review of all our school policies and practices. A part of this is to seek feedback from the school community. We will be sending out a survey monkey shortly which we would like you all to participate in. The questions are the tick the box type so it should not take too much time. We also may hold some parent forums to ask for your feedback. Junior School Council representatives have met recently to give their feedback and we are setting up suggestion boxes to gather student opinion on a variety of issues. While a lot of their ideas may be cost preclusive it would be good to see if we can improve things from a student perspective. Early next term the Year 4 to 6 students will be participating in an attitudes to school survey that the department sends out annually. Opinion will be sought on a variety of issues about their general feelings at school, effort, behaviour and their relationships. Enrolments 2019 Coming up soon is our Prep Information Night for 2019 on April 23rd which is the second Monday in the new term. I have been taking many school tours recently due in part to our new school web site. If you haven’t had a look please check it out. I am sure you will be impressed. Parking Just a reminder that our Disabled car parks are to be used for those with a disabled Sticker for obvious reasons. Yoga Classes Yoga classes will resume next term. There will be 3 classes because of the high demand. I will be sending out notices in the first week of next term ready to start in the second week.

Jan Marinakos Working Bee report A huge thankyou to the parents, grandparents and children who attended the recent working bee. We completed the yellow safety barriers around the roundabout, cleaned the drains around the school buildings to prevent flooding, filled the two sandpits with fresh new sand and cleaned all the gutters around the carpark and roundabout to stop the drains from filling up with debris. We also installed a retaining wall (with seats) near the netball courts to stop debris from filling up and blocking the drains. These drains regularly block and cause flooding near the sandpits and down to the playground. I would like to thank the following people for their time and effort at the working bee. The Hoogenboom family, Gary Johnson (and Gary’s wife for bringing salad rolls), the Anderson-Bonsor family, the Brewer family, Phil Simon and the Wiltshire family. Brad Mayall School Council President
