    Dear Club Members/Friends of Caldy CC,

    After a long winter of indoor cricket and well attended training sessions at BirkenheadSchool, we are now only a matter of weeks away from the first game of the 2012 season andI for one cannot wait to get back out on the field.

    The first outdoor 1st/2nd Team training session will be on Wednesday 4th April 2012 (starting6.30pm prompt) and will again be run by our highly qualified and respected coach. Thesewill continue every Wednesday until the end of the season.

    I have arranged for a pre-season friendly against Birkenhead Park CC (45overs) onSaturday 7th April 2012, if you would like to be considered for this match, please let me knowASAP.

    I can confirm that our overseas player for this year will be that of a young up and comingAustralian Opening Batsman/Leg-Spinner who will hopefully be with us a week before our

    first league game. I would also like to welcome to the club Paul Kearney, a stubborn buthard hitting batsman from Upton CC. I also hope to be in a position to announce a couplemore new signings before the start of the season very shortly.

    This season the 1st Team will be competing in the following cup competitions:The Cheshire Cup, LDCC Knockout Trophy, LDCC T20 Cup, Liverpool Echo T20 Cup and Ihave entered a team into the Last Man Stands League.

    As well as the four senior sides on a Saturday, there will also be a number of Sunday fixturesagainst local and touring clubs. We also have entered a team into the Bristol 6sTournament; a mini-tour in Bristol in July. Further details available are available on the clubwebsite or contact myself or Stewart Pilley.

    As a club, we are fully committed to the development of junior cricket. This season willrunning junior teams at U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17 levels and we will also have a U16 anda U20 teams entered into LDCC Cup Competitions. For more information, please refer tothe Caldy Cougar section of our website.

    This coming year is going to be dedicated to vastly improving our infrastructure and inparticular a brand new dedicated netting/training area. Purely for this project, we need toraise at least 10k with the shortfall been made up through various grants and ECB loans.

    So, we will be looking to all members (past and present), friends, family, local businesses etcto help out throughout the year. There will be numerous fund raising events throughout theseason and sponsorship is of a paramount importance. Please keep regularly checking thewebsite for notices of coming events, your support for these is vital to our cause.

    Also, we are again running the ever popular Fantasy Cricket League. Please get involved,its good fun and provides plenty of banter in the clubhouse, again see website for details.

    I strongly encourage everyone to sound out their bosses, local firms/business, family/friendsetc with regards to raising any form of sponsorship, donations or even match day ballsponsorship. If anyone has any ideas for sponsorship or fundraising events, please do nothesitate to contact myself or any member of your committee. If you require any advice onwhat we can offer as a club for sponsorship, again please do not hesitate to contact myselfor any member of the committee.

    Senior playing subscriptions has yet again been kept at 120 for this current season and wewould appreciate prompt payment, we had an excellent response from players last seasonand the earlier we get the money the better for the club, so please pay as soon as possible.Junior subs will be communicated directly. Subscription and membership forms can befound with this letter or downloaded from our website.

    Sunday 1st April 2012, 10.00am Junior Registration/NatWest Cricket Force Day

    Junior registration will take place at 10.30am for all age groups. It is also NatWestCricket Force day, which all members, family and friends are strongly encouraged toattend. We will be undertaking various small projects in and around the club toenable us to improve and upgrade our facilities for us all. We have secured 500funding for this event from The Build Centre/ECB and will be welcoming a team ofNatwest staff from branches throughout Chester and Wirral.     As previously mentioned, we still have the agreement in place with Tyler Sports for Caldy CCSportswear. We are now into our third season with Tylers and again we have added several

    new lines for this year. Please feel free to contact Dan Hargreaves or just visit their websitevia the link on Caldy CC website. Every item purchased through Tyler Sports will alsobenefit Caldy CC as we have a rebate system in place, so another good reason to getordering!

    Finally, the club does not run itself and we heavily rely on big efforts from each and everyone of you, so please join in and help out as much as possible. Every little really does help.

    I would personally like to wish each and every member of Caldy CC a very successful andhugely enjoyable season and I expect to see you all back in the bar after every game takingthe preverbal out of each other.
