TRANSCRIPT

Design goes beyond just your computer. It is a world that has unlimited choices and appearances. It is a language that

anyone in the world can understand. For me, I enjoy having this power to physically

change and affect our culture around us. Being surrounded by people who enjoy the

realms of imagination and working in a team environment has changed the way I

design. The chance to shape our future and the design elements is something that I will

always strive to be apart of. I shall forever be grateful for being able to communicate

beyond just words and working on this visual language that I absolutely love.

TRUE TALES OF A STARLET

CARNIVALE THREADSBRANDING/WEB-DESIGN/FASHION DESIGN

OVERVIEW

Carnivale Threads is an online clothing store that was created to fit a variety of sizes and styles. It ranges from Victorian to Modern fashion. The store also focuses on

being affordable for a wide range of ages.

CHALLENGE

Find a way to connect the large audience that is covered by this clothing line. The design should be quirky since

majority of the consumers enjoy unique lifestyles.

SOLUTION

The solution for this project was to take the past and present history and find a design that could work for the variety of styles. With the fashion as different for each genre, the best solution was to create a odd family, or a carnivale theme. The history of these genres of fashion are mainly focuse in the 1900’s so the 1940’s typographic elements and color scheme was chosen. The shapes and

boxes used throughout the project are based off of vintage circus posters and wooden signs. The design represents

both the consumers and the owners unique style and interest in the different and odd factors of life.

ENGAGED TO THE DETAILSINFOGRAPHS/ILLUSTRATION/SOCIAL MEDIA

OVERVIEW

Engaged to the Details is a company that focuseson helping all brides figure out budgets, styles, and

any questions you may have while planning a wedding. These can range from photo collages to

infographs. They also communicate one on one through the use of social media platforms.

CHALLENGE

The challenge that is faced on each project, is to make sure each element emulates the design branding of the company as well as is laid out so that the user can use

each piece with ease.

SOLUTION

The solution was to use the same fonts and weights to create a balance, as well as use the same color scheme

for the budget infographs. Other elements, such as clean lines and the use of white space are key elements

to keeping with the modern magazine layouts and design.

TRUE TALES OF A HOLLYWOOD STARLETCOVER DESIGN

OVERVIEW

True Tales of a Hollywood Starlet is a book by Ashley Page, that is about a teenage girl that moves from a

small town to Hollywood in hopes of becoming an actress.

CHALLENGE

Ashley wanted to create something that was used light colors, stars, and pastel colors. She also wanted to use

a script font that gave a feeling of a personal touch, like a diary.

SOLUTION

The solution was to use elements that where minimal and eyecatching. There ended up being three final

designs that she enjoyed the most. One portraying the use of spotlights and soft pastels, one using soft blues and playing on her star necklace, and the last was the use of a glowing star with bold black script font going

across the shape diagonally.

ABSOLUTE PIN-UPLOGO DESIGN/ILLUSTRATION

OVERVIEW

Absolute Pin-up was a branding projectfor a lady who lived and breathed the culture.

Her goal was to have a logo that represented her clothingline but also represented her Shasta trailer.

CHALLENGE

My client wanted to emulate the Shasta logo but also create a logo that used the shapes and symbols of the 50s. She also

wanted to incorporate a more modern approach.

SOLUTION

The solution for this project was to create a vector styled logo that used the same slanted text as the Shasta logo, but

also used the similar anatomy of the trailer’s logo. I also used the starbursts that are common in her vintage clothing

as well as the boomerang shape that was familar in the signage of the 50s. The illustration of the pin-up girl was a side project as well for her tiki coffee that she sells as well.

GRAP+PPLEBRANDING/PACKAGING

OVERVIEW

Grapple is a produce company for people willing to experiment and try new things. It is a fusion of

Washington Concord Grapes fused inside a Fuji apple. The mixture of elements creates a sweet but healthy

treat for anyone to enjoy.

CHALLENGE

To create a packaging/branding that is suitable for everyone and expands their target audience from

strictly children to a range of ages from 8-35.

SOLUTION

Grapple is a hybrid apple that is unique and different from any produce on the market today. Combining two

flavors into one creates the flavor of a Grapple. The logo showcases this with the differences of texture and

color that represent the Gra (grape) and pple(apple). The packaging shows a playful geometric form. The

outside of the packaging is a slice of a Fuji apple, but the inside of the separate slices show a group of

grapes.

MITILLO:COMPANION QUESTBRANDING/WEB DESIGN/ILLUSTRATION

OVERVIEW

Mitillo was a website/mmo game that combines a dating site with a mmo rpg. For this project, I am

worked on the branding, web design, layout, and a few concept illustrations.

CHALLENGE

The challenge for this work was incorporated a giant group of people’s style into on concept. This game/website ventures from fantasy to science-fiction. They needed a style that was

bridge all the desired genres into one, as well as create a unique experience for the player.

SOLUTION

The solution for this project was to create a website that felt like the panels where made of stone and that the

background would change. The main illustration would change and shift as it cycled through important news and

updates that the player would soon experience. I wanted to also make sure that the text in the navigation bar would look as if it was etched in stone and that the runes would light up depending on what page you where on. All of these elements

would allow the player to experience a variety of genres.

ANOMALY APPBRANDING/APP LAYOUT

OVERVIEW

Anomaly is an interactive app that allows visitors to have a new experience when it comes to visiting a

museum. With this app, they can learn directly from the artist, learn more about similar artists and styles, connect to other pieces in the museum, as well as find

other museums near the location that have similar works.

CHALLENGE

To create an interactive adventure through an app that promotes people to go to museums as well as learn

more through a visual educating experience.

SOLUTION

With the idea that the artist’s would actually be holograms, the overall feel for the app needed to be

futuristic and deal with technology. Taking line work from a computer chip and using similar colors, the

design was pulled off and motivates the viewer to get a full experience with the exhibit as well as the museum

building that holds the art pieces.

COLOR.CUT.STYLE.STRUT.BRANDING/DIRECT MAIL/STATIONARY

OVERVIEW

Color.Cut.Style.Strut. is a local salon in St. Louis. My client came to me looking for new branding, direct mailers, and stationary that incorporated her sophisticated but fun flair

for style and fashion.

CHALLENGE

The challenge for this project was was making sure each piece connected with each other. My client also wanted to make sure that her signature was a part of her logo, and that her name was a larger part of the branding then the

business. She wanted a high class look with the elegance of professional salon care.

SOLUTION

The solution for this project was to usse a simple but dramatic contrast of colors. It was also to find typefaces

that complimented each other as well as had a wide range of family choices. The retention and referral cards needed

to make sure that the text was easy to flow through and the design was eyecatching and distinct from other mailers. The logo used her initals as well as focused more on her name, as requested. Overall it was a simple but elegant design.
