HOPE TAVERN HOLTON LE MOOR BLUES NIGHT SWAMPTRASHSunday 19th Feb – 4pm Sunday’s Blues Session at the Hope Tavern Holton le Moor moves the sounds of Louisiana and Texas with Derby based trio Swamptrash with an evening of Cajun, Celtic and Americana Blues. Fronted by internationally acclaimed Cajun accordionist/vocalist Chris Hall, better known as the founder member and front man of formidable UK bands R.Cajun and the Zydeco Brothers, The Bearcats and The Cajun Roosters. With a reputation second to none as master of the Cajun Squeezebox, his reputation has led to recordings with Kate Bush, Mike Harding and Bill Wyman as well as countless recordings with his own bands. Even more impressive have been his recordings and gigs with Paul McCartney and Dave Gilmour, with appearances on The Tube, Jools Holland Show, Top of the Pops and a gig at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool. With all that under his belt he loves nothing more than to play in the corner of a bar and make music with people he can groove with and give audiences a night to remember. Chris, Mick Doyle and Andy Cooper put together the Cajun of Louisiana with Celtic music and blended it in a natural way to create a sound they have dubbed SWAMP TRASH. It’s purely a joyous celebration of two musical cultures using Accordion, Mandolin, Harmonica, Mando-Cello, Bass Guitar, Whistles and Percussion. Think of it as the music you might hear in a Galway bar if The Cajuns were over on tour and an after hour's session kicked off, the Jameson’s and Southern Comfort were flowing, everyone put their troubles behind them and fired into a bunch of tunes and songs just like old friends. You may hear a few songs you recognise by the likes of Van Morrison, Steve Earle or JJ Cale. You’re equally likely to hear hypnotic Cajun two steps with a funky Celtic edge and drinking songs, taking you back to a glorious land where the Craic is mighty and the good times roll all night long. So, an evening of great music and fun awaits. Don’t miss it!

WALKING FOOTBALL...THE FUTURE' Love football? Want to stay active? Want to meet people? Walkingfootball is a non-contact slower paced version of the beautiful gameaimed at the over 60s. Smaller pitches and plenty of breaks ensureparticipants have an enjoyable return to football. The slower pacedoesn't detract from the competition though...it's much more than astroll in the park! Once you have tried it, you will love it.I am looking to set up walking football in the Caistor area with thesupport of both Caistor Town Council and the FA. We will be playing ongrass pitches at Caistor sports ground, Brigg Road. Open to allabilities and a strong emphasis on the social side of life. MAJOR BRITISH CYCLING EVENT CONFIRMED FOR LINCOLNSHIRE – ‘TOUR OF THE WOLDS’ SUNDAY APRIL 9th THE Lincolnshire Wolds will be the focus for major elite road cycle racing in April 2017 attracting the biggest teams and names in British cycling.

British Cycling, East Lindsey District Council and Magna Vitae are working together with EventDS Ltd to deliver the ‘Tour of the Wolds’ on April 9, which will include a 62 mile professional women’s race starting at 9am and 102 mile professional men’s race at 12.30pm. The Tour of the Wolds will see professional cyclists tackling a challenging route that goes from Louth, over the Wolds to Caistor and back, incorporating the villages of Nettleton, Binbrook and Tealby.

The Wolds is just one of four locations in the UK to host a HSBC UK Spring Cup Series event this year and will feature on Eurosport with highlights on ITV4.

On Saturday, April 8, cycling enthusiasts from the local area and further afield will be able to take part in a Sportive which will be based around the London Road Pavilion, Louth, looping into the Wolds. There will be a choice of three distances of 33km, 50km and 100km.

Former Team Sky rider and 4 times winner of the Lincoln Grand Prix, Russell Downing from JLT Condor said: “I am really looking forward to riding the Tour of the Wolds. I’ve trained on these roads numerous times over the years as my partner is originally from Grimsby. These roads are never easy and the circuit certainly looks challenging. It will be a ‘racers race’ and one I will relish!”

The District Councils of East and West Lindsey, together with local business and town councils including Caistor, recently launched the Lincolnshire Wolds Destination Plan – one element of which was attracting events to the area to raise the profile of what the Wolds can offer visitors.

Caistor Town Council clerk, Helen Pitman, who has been involved in production of the Plan and has been working towards greater promotion of the Caistor area, said: “Securing this event is a fantastic achievement for this area and will help put us on the map. I have been working with partners over a number of years to promote green tourism in and around Caistor and I am very happy that the Tour of the Wolds has been confirmed as part of British Cycling’s 2017 events calendar. It would be fantastic if this could become an annual event. ”

Caistor Town Council’s chairman, Carol Mackenzie said: “Caistor has a vibrant community spirit and I am sure that this amazing event will be extremely well supported by our residents as well as by our town centre retail businesses. Caistor has become a key partner, together with Louth, Horncastle and Market Rasen in promoting the Lincolnshire Wolds as many walkers and cyclists have already discovered." FREE CYBER CRIME EVENT FOR BUSINESSES

Fraud affects 1 in 4 small businesses every year. Last year fraud losses to SMEs were estimated at £18.9 billion.[Action Fraud]. It can happen to any type of business in many different ways and no business is too small to be

targeted. This means that the revenue, reputation and long-term health of your business could be at risk unless you take action.

Cyber crime is not the future. It is the present. Although the investigation of cyber-dependent crime, or crime that takes place entirely in the digital world, at the level of local policing is in its infancy, there is an

increasing recognition of the impact that this crime is having on the people and businesses of Lincolnshire. This presentation will introduce the growing capacity for the investigation of Cyber crime in Lincolnshire; explain how a local police force plays an integral role in the investigation of crimes that have no regard for

international borders, and consider the value of reporting incidents and sharing information versus combating incidents in isolation."

Detective Sergeant Mark Booth - Lincolnshire Police

COUNCIL CONSULTS ON NEW POWERS TO TACKLE DOG FOULING!

Dog owners who fail to clean up after their pets could be given a £75 penalty or face prosecution, if the council adopts new powers.

West Lindsey District Council is proposing to make a Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) as a way of reducing the issue of dog fouling in the area.

PSPOs were created under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 to help make public spaces safer and more pleasant for residents.

The order is aimed at tackling dog fouling by replacing old legislation. The council is proposing the following:

• To require dog fouling to be removed by the person in control of the dog at the time of the fouling, on all land open to the air and to which the public have a right or entitlement to whether paid or unpaid, in the District of West Lindsey.

• To require the removed fouling to be properly disposed of in to a general waste or dog waste bin

Failure to comply will be an offence with liability to a £75 fixed penalty notice or prosecution.

This will apply to all land in West Lindsey to which the public have a right of access e.g. parks, Parish Council land, Church Yards, roads and paths.

Before the council can exercise the power it is carrying out a six week consultation on the issue starting 13 February 2017 until 27 March 2017.

Cllr Trevor Young, Member champion for Community Safety/ASB at the council said:“We receive calls regularly about dog fouling across West Lindsey asking for us to clear the mess away.

“Not only is this unsightly but it unsafe if the dog fouling is not cleared. Whilst we do our best to clear away mess, dog owners need to take responsibility for clearing up after their own animals.

“That is what we are seeking your views on a public order to take action against those who do not clear up the mess.”

While we hope to work with communities and educate residents rather than fine people and take them to court, unfortunately we sometimes have to take these formal steps.

The new order will enable the council to preserve public space for the majority of residents while challenging those who choose to act in an anti-social manner.

The draft Order can be seen on the West Lindsey website, and copies can be viewed at the Guildhall Reception.

These are subject to change or may be cancelled completely dependent on the responses received as part of this consultation.
