    Hidden away within the mature, surrounding Mustique vegetation and landscaping is a striking and contemporary, Japanese vision of design and architecture.

    Designed by Paolo Piva and inspired by modern Japanese style living, this is a house like no other in Mustique.

    The sleek external lines give way to warmer, fun and intelligent Japanese styled furnishings and layouts within. Use of water and bold golden accents of colour add theatre and depth to the large internal spaces.

    Dark hardwood floors abound and upstairs, you are transported into what almost feels like a treehouse, perched in and above the canopy of the surrounding trees.

    The vaulted great room on the higher floor provides varied sitting areas, all taking advantage of dramatic views across the island. It is a peaceful space, which could also be used for entertaining.

    On each flank of the house both upstairs and downstairs are generously proportioned bedroom suites, two upstairs and two downstairs.

    From all the suites, sliding doors open onto wide, decked terraces, upstairs over the tree canopy and the island towards other neighbouring islands and downstairs immediately onto the pool area.

    Steps lead down to the principal level with the wide, dark wood floors continuing and flowing from inside to outside through to the wide, decked area around the pool.

    Open plan in feel, the space feels voluminous, with the reception space designed to be open to the elements and perfect for allowing the cool evening breezes to flow through the house.

    There is a contemporary, fully fitted kitchen and an indoor/outdoor regular dining room by a golden waterfall, suitable for large dinner parties and family meals, as well as a more intimate sunken typical Japanese style dining room.

    Outside, around the wide infinity pool, with a very useful shallow paddling area, is an extensive wooden decking and terrace area, all in the same style and finish as inside the house. This large area provides not only for sunbathing, reading and relaxing, but also an amazing space for entertaining and parties under the stars.

    Although the house is set within wild, tropical grounds, there is also an Asian themed landscaped garden with further, decked, outdoor sitting and dining areas.

    An oasis of calm and serenity during the day, the house transforms and feels very different again as the sun goes down and after dark with intelligent lighting accentuating and highlighting the clean lines of the architecture.

    MUSTIQUE ISLANDMustique lies 18 miles south of St. Vincent in

    a collection of unspoilt islands in the Eastern

    Caribbean. Mustique encompasses only 1,400

    acres, measuring 1.5 miles wide by 3 miles long.

    The terrain is made up of rolling hills and lush

    vegetation with stretches of deserted white sand

    beaches surrounded by protected reefs and clear

    aquamarine seas. The exclusive island of Mustique

    is at the northern tip of The Grenadines bordered

    by the Caribbean Sea to the west and the Atlantic

    Ocean to the east. It is part of the Lesser Antilles

    that are, in turn, part of the Windward Islands of

    the Caribbean. Mustique is reached by air from

    North America and Europe through Barbados, St.

    Vincent, Canouan, Grenada, Martinique, St. Lucia,

    Puerto Rico or Trinidad.
