Council Oak Woodcarvers Club Charitable Fund Raiser Christmas Ornament/ Decorations Contest for 2017 . The Council Oak Woodcarvers Club will be conducting its third annual charitable fund raiser for a yet-to-be-determined cause. As a club, we will be carving and finishing Christmas ornaments and decorations and selling them throughout the summer and fall leading up to Christmas. We donate 100% of the money raised to the charitable cause. Last year we were able to raise $1,000 through purchases and donations which was then given to Ms. Mara Rugh who suffers from MS. This helped in her effort to obtain a specialized wheel chair. This was accomplished by our club members donating Christmas decorations they had carved and our club selling them at the Chocolate Café in downtown South Bend on First Friday’s of the Month and at our Saturday carving get-togethers. The Chocolate Café has been a long-time supporter of our club and has allowed us the space and ability to sell the ornaments at their location. We plan on doing the same thing this year but hope to expand the effort in two ways. First, we plan on starting this effort much earlier in the year; and secondly, we would like to invite other carvers and carving groups/clubs to join us by participating in this charitable effort. To encourage carvers to participate and increase our donated carvings, we will be conducting a contest. Each month, starting with the month of June and going thru the month of December, we will be holding a drawing for a Helvie Signature Series Carving Knife. Anyone donating a carved Christmas ornament or decoration that can be sold for $10 or more will have their name placed in the drawing for a chance to win the Helvie Signature Series Knife of the Month. Your name will be placed in the monthly drawing for each carving that you donate. The more carvings you donate the better your chances of winning the knife become! You don’t have to be a member of our club to win; anyone donating a carving(s) will have their name in the drawing for each donation. The Helvie Signature Series Carving Knives are being donated by one of our club members, Rod Beamish. Many of the area clubs and carvers know Rod and have carved with or taken classes from him. That’s right carvers, a chance to win one of seven Helvie Signature Series

The Helvie Signature Series Carving Knives are being donated by one of our club members, Rod Beamish. Many of the area clubs and carvers know Rod and have carved with or taken classes from him. That’s right carvers, a chance to win one of seven Helvie Signature Series Knives by participating in a good cause!
