This Quarter (Apr-Jun’13) has witnessed a serene performance with revenue increase by 6.7% compared to earlier (Apr- Jun’12).Our customer base is been augmented by 3 new additions. I expect to have enhanced upstream revenue with an increase of 66% compared to current quarter. I would like to see some aggressive strategies rolling next quarters to foray into new avenues like auto ancillaries & accessories. At RACE we would like to built a strong associate base to support the growing demands from new avenues. Our “Intellect” team has fortified their association with Truck & Bus Builders (TBB) , a leading International Commercial vehicle magazine , By end of third quarter RACE expects rollout array of Syndicate Research Reports along with TBB. Further Intellect Team is created a colossal of knowledge in the arena of Over dimensional Cargo (ODC) Transportation. Substantial inroads have been made interms of understanding the pain areas of finished goods movement pertinent to Steel Industry. Team has worked out tenable solution towards load securing & secured movement of finished goods. As a strategic initiative, RACE would like to extend support to its clients in terms financial assistance, best practices, Joint Venture assistance, Due Diligence on Technical & Commercial areas, supporting this initiative Ms. Sukanya will spear head this initiative .The team will work around the concept in order to enhance value with existing clients, new clients further develop a comprehensive and realizable business plan for the future.

Our new initiative “SITBAM” integrating Truck & Bus application builders is expected to take concrete steps in the development. We are also working with one of the Major Auto magazine “Motor India as their Knowledge Partners in their new initiatives. Strategic Project Team (SPD) to take control of Data security and protection to gain more customer confidence and maintain confidentiality at all levels of management. Also SPD team to implement project management technique to quantify and new initiative “SITBAM” integrating Truck & Bus application builders is expected to take concrete steps in the development.

Re assure the time lines on each project and ensure quality at all levels. SPD will also engage customers and communicate the deliverables based on projects so that our customers realize the full potential of RACE services. Our Location based services to ODC transporters is in the process of getting transformed to add more value to our clients. This value service includes a demonstrative

presentation on how to transport these ODC package to their end clients which assist them to secure & win orders. Now we are also in the process of assisting various companies in planning their logistics, feasibility of transportation in a more effective and economical mode. RACE has now developed collapsible canopy with enhanced design developments on the present models. Arrangement of rollers on the roller fixture is one of the enhanced features of the design. Rollers are considered as the key element in the canopy mechanism. As a value addition, horizontal rollers are fixed on the fixtures. Horizontal rollers provide additional strength. To make the design more economical, roller guides have been introduced as part of value engineering. Teflon rollers are used due to their high wear and scratch resistance along with heavier payload capabilities.

Understanding the market demands in container transportation, Race developed a comprehensive solution for bulk and container transportation by designing a unique trailer. As the next phase of development, Race entered into research optimization through Finite Element Analysis for trailer structures to understand the effective utilization of materials. Trailer structures are tested and experimented on various load conditions to study the stress distribution. Based on the solutions obtained from the analysis, value engineering is carried out for optimized development. In terms of application engineering, Race developed a trailer model to transport one 40’ container in the extended mode and one 20’ container in the closed mode. Additionally during return load trips, this version of trailer would be treated as 22’ flat bed, which can be used to transport bulk goods making it a versatile trailer, thereby increasingthe profitability to the transporter.

In the current scenario, wind energy sectors are quite keen in making safer transportation without affecting the product quality. In order to study the transit impacts on windmill towers, RACE has taken a research study on transit behaviors of these tower sections. RACE is now capable of providing solutions in Finite Element Analysis. Transit behaviors such as vibrations and sudden impacts caused through road conditions, braking and acceleration will be the case for model solutions. For Random Vibration Analysis, road crests and trough are collected in the form of PSD (Power Spectral Density), as inputs.

Despite the economic slowdown and poor investor confidence, Our Intellect team has registered strongest growth during the last two quarters of 2012-13.

In the fuel transportation, RACE forecasted tanker trailers to be a dominant product. Eyeing the market needs, RACE executed research and development of tanker trailer and developed lighter and higher payload capacity tankers. Value engineering process was used in the development to determine the feasible and economical use of aluminum. This model of tanker trailer is primarily used for transporting fuel between warehouses.

RACE came up with solutions to provide factory layouts as per clients’ requirements. Right from gangways to paint booths and machine positioning were designed. Addition to it, process time and material flow studies were carefully analyzed to develop the layouts.

Factory Layouts

RACE developed a plant layout for one of the largest OEMs to meet a capacity of 20841 tipper production per year. Using the principles of Lean Manufacturing and JIT time concepts, layouts where designed and optimized ensuring maximum utilization of space, minimum work in progress inventory, reduced people movement and high levels of safety.

Also a certain set up required huge product mixes to be fabricated in less numbers. The challenge was to reduce the set up time and tool change over time. RACE adopted a fusion of Cellular and Fishbone manufacturing concepts in the design to achieve the required manufacturing flexibility with complete automation and state of the art equipment. This plant will be

commissioned in the year 2014-2015 which in its kind, would be ahead of the curve.

Route survey was done from Sinnar to Panchapatta (Maharashtra). Being a mountainous area, a lot of

gradients were identified by means of our state of the art V box Tool. Further the gradient inputs were translated by our technical team to arrive at the BHP (Brake Horsepower) requirement. This in turn, helped the client to use appropriate pullers. Locations with narrow roads required

issues rock cutting to make the passage feasible for ODC movement. At critical turnings, we recommended to lay new roads. We used our GPS tools to ear mark the areas where new roads had to be laid which otherwise would have been a difficult for the client to identify the locations where the roads had to be laid.

A feasibility study for the transportation of windmill blades from Hamidwada, Nipani to Project site (DudheTalav) was carried out. The Road Network Covered by the Route Survey was 74 Kms. In this route, we identified junctions which had more critical bends and curves. Race technic team arrived at the turning circle of the vehicle, simulating the conditions to help the

client and the drivers to understand the nitty-gritty involved and prepare in advance.

As a new initiative, Race offers extended support to its ODC transportation clients in terms of demonstrative presentation on how to transport over dimensional packages which helps the client to secure and win orders. LBI team is jointly developing a software tool which will improve the efficiency of the delivery of the reports.

RACE’s research and consulting vertical has been working closely with Truck and Bus Builder, a leading global commercial vehicle magazine based out of western UK. Backing them from the Indian market, providing them with comprehensive market information and adept data, TBB has chosen RACE as there prime associate in India. Adding up to the association, RACE’s

syndicated reports on the bus and tipper markets are already up for sale on TBB’S website. Trailer and truck market reports are underway, planning to get published on TBB’s website by the end of August. By the end of the year RACE plans to roll out most of the research deliverables pertaining to the commercial vehicle industry i.e. bus, truck, tipper, trailer and over dimensional cargo reports.

All customers who experienced frequent retarder issues with their Volvo buses earlier fitted with hydraulic retarder have now appreciated Telma performance after retrofit. Telma retarders are effective right from 3 kmph, with faster ON & OFF response time, without any additional cooling system (air cooled) & maintenance free for life are the important parameters which differentiates them from hydraulic retarders.

With Volume of Luxura bus starting to grow, Telma anticipates more sales in coming years.
