Jubilee of Marian Devotion begins nest Saturday.

“How long, O Lord?” (Habakkuk 1:2). With Habakkuk’s question

echoing across twenty-six hundred years, Respect Life Sunday finds

all life claiming sanctuary in our hearts: unborn infant, senior citi-

zen, Immigrant and refugee, imprisoned and addicted, people bur-

dened with illness, and disabilities of body, mind, or spirit. Even

Mother Earth, Pope Francis notes in Laudato Si’, bears scars

of disrespect for the life she nurtures and sustains. Life is

still threatened, as in Habakkuk’s day, with ruin and mis-

ery, “Destruction and violence,...strife and clamorous dis-

cord” (see 1:3). Since our efforts so often seem ineffec-

tive, we “Unprofitable servants” cry with the apostles,

“Increase our faith” (Luke 17:10,5). But Jesus’ reply

might be paraphrased, “Not quantity—quality.” Next

weekend marks the Jubilee Y ear of Mercy’s special

devotion to Mary, whose willingness to shelter Jesus in

her womb and stand at the foot of his cross bears witness

to the qualities that Jesus expects our faith to manifest: the

willingness to trust, to risk, to dare to speak up for life.

"¿Hasta cuándo, Señor?" (Habacuc 1: 2). Con la pregunta de Habacuc

haciendo eco a través de dos mil seiscientos años, el Respeto a la Vida

Domingo encuentra toda la vida reclamando santuario en nuestros cora-

zones: bebé antes de nacer, de la tercera edad, inmigrantes y refugiados,

presos y adictos, la gente cargada con otras enfermedades y discapacida-

des del cuerpo, la mente, o espíritu. Incluso la madre tierra, Francisco

observa en Laudato Si ', tiene cicatrices de falta de respeto por la

vida que nutre y sostiene. La vida todavía está amenazada, co-

mo en los días de Habacuc, con la ruina y la miseria, "La

destrucción y la violencia, ... disputa y la discordia clamoro-

sa" (ver 1: 3). Desde nuestros esfuerzos parecen tan a menu-

do ineficaces, que "siervos inútiles" llorar con los apóstoles,

"Aumenta nuestra fe" (Lucas 17: 10,5). Pero la respuesta de

Jesús podría ser parafraseada, "no cantidad-calidad." Marca

próximo fin de semana del Año jubilar de la Misericordia

especial de la devoción a María, cuya disposición a refugio

Jesús en su vientre y estar al pie de su cruz da testimonio de las

cualidades que Jesús espera que nuestra fe se manifieste: la

disposición a confiar, con el riesgo, para atreverse a hablar

en favor de la vida.

Viva La Fiesta!

We hope that everyone has a wonderful

time this weekend! Esperamos que todos

disfruten de esta Fiesta de Otoño!

Knight of Columbus: On Friday and Saturday, October 14 and 15, our

Council will again be helping to support our local

Lompoc Special Olympics program. We are hop-

ing to exceed last year’s drive which helped to

procure an equipment trailer that enhanced their participation

at their events.

This year, we will be distributing Tootsie Rolls, an iconic

American candy, and accepting donations at six venues in

Lompoc: Albertson’s Supermarket and five banking institu-

tions. We really need your support in manning the sites. We

are seeking volunteers to step up and to cover two-hour shifts,

typically during the normal business hours of 10AM – 6 PM

on both Friday and Saturday. For further information and to

select a time slot, please call either Dan Turocy at 741-7710,

or John Zemanovic at 737-0566.

A Rosary for Vocations will be recited on Thursday, 06 Octo-

ber, at 7 PM. The Council Business Meeting will convene at

7:30 PM in the Parish Hall.

HAPPY FIESTA! VIVA LA FIESTA!

Let us celebrate! Let us celebrate our par-

ish harvest festival this weekend with joy

and gladness. Let us have some fun and

enjoy. It is one of ways of celebrating our

faith as one family of God here at Queen

of Angels Church. It is our way of cele-

brating and sharing our culture, our food

as a diverse community. It is so inspiring

to see and work with one another during the preparations for

this festival, from the meetings to the setting up of booths last

Saturday and other preparations. And it is very uplifting to

experience the generosity of those who gave their financial

support, and those who shared what they have for our silent

and live auctions. It was certainly a display of oneness and

harmony, graciousness and generosity. I believe that we are

all happy and grateful about this show of unity and magna-

nimity. Indeed, this is what keeps us together as parish com-

munity which is based on our faith in the Lord. In the gospel

this weekend, the apostles tells Jesus: Lord, increase our

faith .” We pray in the same way. The size of our faith is cer-

tainly reflected in the way we live our life as a community of

Christ’s disciples. We continue to pray, however, that the

Lord may keep on increasing our faith. Let us celebrate our

faith. Let us celebrate with gratitude and gladness our parish

festival. May the Lord our faith community and our families.

October is the Month of the Holy Rosary The Rosary is the Gospel transformed to prayer;

it is the life of Jesus as seen through the eyes of Mary,

His Mother. When you pray the Rosary, you have the

words of heaven on your lips, the love of Mary in your

heart, the life of Christ in your thoughts- of these three

strands is woven the precious fabric of the Rosary; in

these three elements lies the most precious charm. The

Rosary has a special effectiveness in fostering family

unity and love. Every family will follow the pattern of

the family of Nazareth- years of intimacy

and joy, of responsibility and sorrow, the

inevitability of separation, death, and tears.

The Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, and Lumi-

nous Mysteries have thought them as this

almost without their realizing it.

Did you know?

Know the signs of sex trafficking. Young sex trafficking victims

could be hiding in plain sight, in youth groups, schools, and

sports teams. Adults should be aware of signs that could indicate

abuse: a teen has suspicious injuries that can’t be explained, or

is afraid to be away from an older adult “friend” for extended

periods of time. In these cases, taking the time to ask questions

can make a huge difference in allowing a potential victim to

Caballeros de Colon El viernes y el sábado, 14 de octubre y 15, nuestro nuevo

Consejo estará ayudando a apoyar nuestro programa de Olim-

piadas Especiales Lompoc local. Estamos con la esperanza de

superar coche del año pasado, lo que ayudó a adquirir un

remolque equipo que ha mejorado su participación en sus eventos.

Este año, vamos a distribuir Tootsie Rolls, un caramelo del icono america-

no, y la aceptación de donaciones, en seis lugares en Lompoc: supermer-

cado de Albertson y cinco instituciones bancarias. Realmente necesitamos

su apoyo en la dotación de los sitios. Estamos buscando voluntarios para

intensificar y para cubrir turnos de dos horas, por lo general durante las

horas normales de trabajo de 10 a.m.-6 p.m. en la noche del viernes y

¿Sabia Usted? Conozca las señales de tráfico de sexo. Las víctimas jóvenes del

tráfico de sexo pueden estarse escondiendo a simple vista, en

grupos de jóvenes, escuelas, y en equipos de deportes. Los adultos

deben estar alerta de estas señales que pueden indicar abuso: un

adolescente que tenga heridas sospechosas inexplicables, o que le

asusta estar lejos de un “amigo” adulto mayor por largos períodos

de tiempo. En estos casos, tomar el tiempo para hacer preguntas

puede hacer una gran diferencia para permitir que una víctima po-

Viva la Fiesta!

Celebremos! Vamos a celebrar nuestra fiesta de la cosecha de la parroquia este fin de semana con la alegría y el placer.

Tengamos un poco de diversión y disfrute. Es una de las formas de celebrar nuestra fe como una sola familia de Dios aquí en

la Iglesia Reina de los Ángeles. Es nuestra manera de celebrar y compartir nuestra cultura, nuestra comida como una comunidad diversa. Es tan inspirador

ver y trabajar unos con otros durante los preparativos de esta fiesta, de las reuniones a la creación de cabinas últi-mo sábado y otras preparaciones. Y es muy edificante pa-

ra experimentar la generosidad de los que dieron su apoyo financiero, y los que comparten lo que tienen para nuestras subastas silenciosas y en vivo. Sin duda fue una muestra de la unidad y la armonía, amabilidad y gener-osidad. Creo que todos estamos felices y agradecidos de esta muestra de unidad y magnanimidad. De hecho, esto

es lo que nos mantiene juntos como comunidad parroquial que se basa en nuestra fe en el Señor. En el Evangelio de

este fin de semana, los apóstoles le dice a Jesús: Señor, aumenta nuestra fe "Oramos de la misma manera.. El

tamaño de nuestra fe es, sin duda refleja en la forma en que vivimos nuestra vida como comunidad de los discípu-los de Cristo. Seguimos orando, sin embargo, que el Señor pueda seguir aumentando nuestra fe. Vamos a celebrar

nuestra fe. Vamos a celebrar con gratitud y alegría nues-tro festival parroquial. Que el Señor nuestra comunidad de

fe y nuestras familias. Viva La Fiesta!!

Octubre es el Mes del Santo Rosario El Rosario se transforma el Evangelio a la oración; es la vida de Jesús,

como se ve a través de los ojos de María, su Madre. Cuando rezas el Ro-

sario, que tiene las palabras de los cielos en los labios, el amor de María

en su corazón, la vida de Cristo en su pensamiento- de estas tres líneas se

teje la tela preciosa del Rosario; en estos tres elementos se encuentra el

encanto más preciado. Rosario tiene una eficacia especial en el fomento

de la unidad familiar y el amor. Cada familia va a seguir el modelo de la

familia de Nazaret- años de la intimidad y la alegría, de la responsabilidad

y la tristeza, la inevitabilidad de la separación, la muerte y lágrimas. Los

misterios gozosos, dolorosos, gloriosos y luminosos ellos se han

planteado ya que esto casi sin que se den cuenta. - El Papa Juan Pablo II.
