Dubuque Area Catholic Evangelization Outreach (CEO): On Tuesday evening, June 21, 2016 the CEO will offer a presentation to the Dubuque area community. This event will take place at Nativity Catholic Church, at 7 pm and feature John Kruse. Invite a family member or friend to join you to hear John’s story. Catholic Evangelization really isn’t new. After all we have been evangelizing since Jesus sent his disciples “to proclaim the Kingdom of God.” We are simply friends talking with friends and sharing our own, personal witness of Jesus Christ. How we have come to know him and how He continues to be part of our lives. Refreshments & social after.
Villa Raphael has a part-time opening for a cook to prepare and serve meals for the
residents of Villa Raphael, a 16 unit resident retirement home of the Archdiocese of
Dubuque. Hours would be Sat. 1 to 7 pm and Sun. 6:30 am to 12:30 pm. To apply
submit resume to HR Dept. Archdiocese of Dubuque, 1229 Mt. Loretta, Dubuque, Iowa
52003 or email to [email protected].
LADIES: Do you want to do something for Father? Opt to pray one Holy hour per
week for his intentions. We’ll help you get started. SEVEN SISTERS APOSTOLATE,

June 12, 2016
Dear Parishioners,
We welcome Sr. Judy at Masses over the next two weekends as our
Archdiocesan Mission Coop speaker. Sister will speak to us before Masses and
feel free to visit with her afterwards. May the new evangelization bring forth a
springtime of spiritual growth!
Seriously, what are your kids doing this week of summer vacation? Jump into
Totus Tuus—beginning this Sunday and evenings 7-9 pm for grades 7-12 as well
as Mon-Fri for grades 1-6, 9 am—2:30 pm at St. Anthony’s. Your children and
grandchildren will enjoy this wonderful Archdiocesan and city wide ministry!
In today’s Holy Gospel, Jesus takes note of the judgmental attitude in the
Pharisee’s heart. He also recognizes the profound gratitude for forgiveness in the
woman’s heart. What kind of heart do you have? Accusing, condemning, and
dismissive of others? Or is your heart filled with the love and mercy that our
Heavenly Father has for you? Can you remember a time that you were thankful
for forgiveness?
It is the Year of Mercy! Have a prayer-filled summer vacation!
Blessings upon your family,
Fr. Gabriel
Vocations Corner—June 12, 2016
The Vocations Committee Invites you to pray for Vocations, especially those to Priest-
hood or Religious Life! Won Over For Christ: Nothing is more exciting than having a
conversation with someone who is struggling to believe in God, or in the teachings of
the Church, and to slowly see them come to an understanding of the love that God has
for them and of His Plan for their lives. In some sense, we could summarize this expe-
rience up by saying that it is amazing to be able to win someone over for Christ.
But the question the Vocations Committee wants to raise is this: Even though we
might be out doing the Lord’s work and striving to bring others to know Him and to
follow Him in a deeper way, we have to ask ourselves “Am I won over for Christ?” I say
this because while we may seek to follow Christ and to be His disciple, this doesn’t
necessarily mean that when push comes to shove, that we will be willing to obey
Christ’s request to “deny yourself, take up the cross, and follow Me.” In light of this we
need to ask ourselves just how far we’d be willing to go in our own carrying out of the
Lord’s Will. Are we prepared to do anything for God? Or . . .except that one thing.
Are we willing to follow Christ only up to a point? If so, then we encourage you to beg God to
inspire you to LOVE Him more. Love is the one thing that can motivate us beyond fear or inse-
curities. So ask God for a deeper love so that your heart will be free to follow wherever He
calls.
