all the Families

that have sent

in recipes that

are to be

included in the

‘Family Favourite Recipe Book’

We are creating as part of our

school’s fundraising efforts, it’s not

too late to send in your favourite

recipes we would love to have a

recipe from every family included

in the book.

Hi Everyone, I’m collecting

soccer gear for this rowdy

bunch of boys! They live in

Port Vila, Vanuatu and des-

perately want to join a soc-

cer competition. However,

they have no soccer gear to

play in. Currently they kick

the ball around the village in

bare feet! I have got t-shirts

and have been given a few

pairs of boots and shin pads. If you have anything that you no longer need,

even blue socks, I would be so grateful for the donation. You can drop it off

at Saffi or send it to school to give to Tom or Alex Mitchell.

Many Thanks Liz Mitchell

Commonwealth Bank School Banking Update

Following the decision last month to recall the

‘Cosmic Light Beam Torch’due to a potential safety

issue, a decision has been made to also withdraw

the upcoming ‘Lunar Light Band’ reward from the

School Banking Rewards Program.

To avoid disappointment there is a new reward

item available for redemption in Term 4 while stocks

last. Students can now test their skills with a game

of Frisbee with the new Galaxy Glider!

Once the students have collected 10 tokens, they

can simply include a note, along with their tokens

on banking day to advise that they would like to redeem their tokens for the ‘Galaxy Glider’ reward

item. Don’t forget the Outer Space Savers Money Box is also available in Term 4.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY ROAD SAFETY REMINDER

FOR FAMILIES

With the school holidays approaching, daily routines will soon change. Different play locations and holiday destina-tions means different traffic environments.

So to help keep our children safe, families are reminded about these key road safety points:

Stop, look, listen, think every time you cross the road. If your child is aged 8 years or younger hold their hand when walking near or across roads. If your child is 9-10 years

old always actively supervise them. It’s the law that everyone wears a helmet when riding a bike in a public place. It makes sense to wear a helmet when riding scooters and skateboards too! Click clack front ‘n back every person for every trip. Everyone in the car must be securely buckled up in the right seatbelt or child restraint. Talk to your child about being a safe road user. Reinforce safe road behaviours by being a good role model! Children learn safe road behaviours from the adults who

care for them. Talk about what you are doing to be safe when near roads, in the car and when riding. Point out road safety differences and dangers in new environments.

This is especially important when on holidays in different surroundings. Roads, footpaths, parks, carparks, bike tracks and bike lanes may look different in holiday areas.

The best way to keep your child safe is to actively supervise them.

Talk and teach your child about road safety every time you are out an

about.

Remind other adults who care for your children to do this too.

Have a safe holiday break!

Head Lice

There have been a few cases of head

lice within the School. If parents/

carers could keep a watchful eye on

their children’s hair and if any trace

of head lice is found please treat

with the appropriate treatment.

RIDING CAMPS

Jackaroo Ranch (est 54 years) located at Bingletree Station at Upper Turon, are again running their popular horse riding camps in the winter

vacation.

Week 1 Saturday, 19th September to Saturday, 26th September

Week 2 Saturday, 26th September to Sunday, 4th October

Shorter stays are possible if camps are not fully booked.

These camps are for ‘horse mad’ children aged from 6 – 16 years. Five to six hours per day are devoted to horse activities including a one hour

lessons and three hours trail riding in the beautiful Turon Valley – with tuition still being given. As well, campers are taught grooming, saddling,

haltering, catching a horse, safety aspects and many other facets of horsemanship.

Previous experience is not necessary as beginners to advanced riders are catered for. We specialise in teaching nervous riders and developing

their confidence.

Other activities include gold panning, cattle feeding/checking, cattle mustering, camp fires and native wildlife spotting. (The property abounds with

kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, wonderful bird life as well as being a working cattle farm and quarter horse stud. There are Poll Hereford calves

and Quarter Horse foals now being born.)

This is ‘not just a camp’ it is a wonderful farm experience your child will treasure forever.
