From the Commander COBRAS,

This month, we welcome back SGT Stephenson from her deployment to Kuwait. SGT Stephenson has always been part of the Cobra team, but she volunteered to deploy with our Alpha detachment last year. This month, SPC Parker reenlisted, and SPC Ayoade graduated from the Warrior Leader’s Course; Commandant’s List. Congratulations to these Cobras on their exceptional accomplishments. I would also like to recognize and congratulate SGT Joslyn on his promotion to the NCO Corps. He is greatly deserving of this recognition and will be an excellent NCO for Charlie Detachment.

The Cobra Family grew this month with the arrival of SGT Jessie Lingerfelt, his wife Heather, and 3 kids. Additionally we welcomed PV2 Patrick Green from Virginia Beach, Virginia; his wife and new born son will be joining him soon. And SPC Samu Lwehabura from Jackson, Mississippi; welcome to the Cobra Family, hope you enjoy Vicenza, Italy.

As the summer months quickly pass by and the fall months approach, everyone seems to taking advantage of the hot, yet beautiful weather to hit the local beaches and other destinations. With this in mind, I cannot stress enough the importance of having a plan and utilizing the buddy system when venturing outside the immediate community. You should always make a primary plan as well as a contingency plan just in case you need to adjust fire. If you leave the immediate area at the last minute, inform your battle buddies and/or leaders of your whereabouts and an approximate time of your return.

Lastly, I would like to thank each and every one of you for all that you do—you push me to be a better Soldier, Leader, and Commander each end every day. Everything that you do on a daily basis exemplifies the caliber of Soldiers representing the Cobra Family. You should take pride in being able to the right thing even when no one is looking. I commend you all on your dedication and motivation that continue to drive this unit forward.

From the Detachment Sergeant COBRAS,

I want to thank everyone for their efforts in making Charlie detachment successful. We need to continue to come together as a team and make sure that we are all doing our part in order to make Charlie the best detachment in the 106th FMSU.

Summer means peak PCS season for the Vicenza community. With a high turnaround rate in personnel as well as an influx of inbound Soldiers, we will be very busy meeting this demand. With that in mind, continue to help one another to ensure your sections are covered down. We still have to meet all our training and daily mission requirements, so remember to balance your work load to ensure that you are successful in all that you do.

Within the next month, we will be losing three of our NCOs: SFC Polati, SSG Herter, and SSG Cortez, as they will soon PCS to their new duty stations. These individuals have greatly benefited the Cobra family and their impact on our lives cannot be emphasized enough. I thank each and every one for their contributions to the unit and wish them all the best of luck at their next assignments.

Remember that regardless of where you are, the impact that you make on your immediate community is testament to the type of leader that you are. You are the only person who can control whether or not you will be successful in your current tour. When you get to a new organization, always strive to make a positive impact. Your time is limited, so I urge you to ask yourself: what is the legacy that you are leaving behind? How will the Soldiers and leaders remember you as a person?

Finally, I encourage you to always continue to do bigger and better things to improve yourself and the unit. Remember to hold each other accountable and continue to do the right thing.

“LEAD FROM THE FRONT, NEVER QUIT”

Equal Opportunity Training: LGBT Pride

Month

The Month of June was declared to be Pride Month across all

Branches of Service. After the appeal of “Don’t ask Don’t tell,”

there has been many positive changes in the military in regards to

the LGBT community. Equal Opportunity is part of those

positive changes. The world seems to be changing at a rapid rate yet the Military does everything in its

power to keep up with these changes. Overall, it looks like we are going forward in the fight to pursue equality in the Military.
