The Cougars lead the all-time series, 27-9, and have won the last six games between the two teams. BYU most recently came off a trip at Lamar where the Cougars went 2-1 on the week. BYU’s 7-3 start is the best through the first 10 games of the year since 2016 when the Cougars started 9-1. Junior right-hander Jarod Lessar (1-1, 4.66 ERA) will start for the Cougars while junior right- hander Matt Dalke (1-0, 5.40) will start for the Wolverines. The Cougar pitching staff has shined early this season. BYU currently boasts the No. 15 WHIP in the nation at 1.09 with sophomore right-hander Easton Walker leading the country in the category with a WHIP of 0.39. In 10.1 IP in four games, Walker has six strikeouts with no earned runs, two hits and two walks. BYU is also No. 24 in hits allowed per nine innings (6.57) and No. 28 in ERA (2.73). Walker is allowing 1.74 hits per nine to rank No. 6 in the nation and sophomore right-hander Justin Sterner is allowing just 4.20 hits per nine to rank No. 67 in the country and No. 4 among WCC pitchers. The Cougar pitching staff has allowed three or fewer runs in nine of 10 games this year, including each of the last six. The Cougar bullpen has allowed earned runs in just one game (California) this season. BYU relievers collectively boat a 1.47 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 43.0 innings. Senior catcher Noah Hill led the Cougars last week, going 6-for-10 to push his season batting average to .387 (12-for-31). Hill is currently on a career best seven-game hitting streak. Sophomore outfielder Jackson Cluff also had a good week at Lamar, going 5-for-11 with six RBIs, five runs and two walks. Cluff has reached base safely in every game this season, joining senior outfielder Brock Hale as the only two Cougars to do so. SERIES HISTORYBYU and UVU first played against each other on March 8, 2005, in Provo with BYU earning the 15-8 victory. BYU holds a 27-9 lead in the series as the teams have played two or three games a year since 2013.

The Cougars have won 11 of the last 12 games between the two teams dating back to April 2014. Under Littlewood, BYU is 13-2 against UVU.

BYU’s current six-game winning streak is the longest by either team in the series. During the win streak, BYU has won by an average score of 13 to 4, outscoring the Wolverines 78-24.

The Cougars have not lost at home to the Wolverines since a 7-6 setback on May 3, 2016.

Last season, BYU won 9-3 in Miller Park on March 13 before winning 14-2 at UCCU Ballpark two weeks later.

MISSIONARY SERVICEEleven members of this year’s team have served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Missonaries devote themselves to proselytizing, humanitarian assistance and other community service.

In addition, freshman outfielder Noah Hughes will serve in the Portugal Lisbon Mission starting June 19.
