The play, however, is an important work as it provides a template for so many of the themes and motifs that Shakespeare will explore throughout his life: the challenges of love, parental/child discord, disguise, ambition and betrayal, to name a few. This play poses the question: what is more essential-friendship or romantic love? Certainly a struggle that never goes out of fashion. Shakespeare remains ever current because he speaks to the human heart; he understands our complexities and contradictions. THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA is an ideal play for a university as it examines the particular struggles and behaviors of young people. However, I hope people of all ages see themselves in one way or another in this production.” Donald Carrier Ryan Belock* Kevin Argus* Robert Jenista* Lucy Lavely* Iraisa Ann Reilly* Gabriela Nuñez Bebhinn Priest* Stephanie Rice* Kevin Barsaloux* Chris Silvestri* Theo Wold Brenna Williams* Nicholas Danna Sarah Grothaus* Cameron Cortens Kelly Hunt Daniel Boughton Tanser ANNOUNCEMENTS The use of camera or recording devices during the performance is prohibited. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Siiri Scott

The faculty and students of the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre would like to thank Daniel and Marie Messina for their generous support for our costumes. The Messinas have endowed a fund to underwrite the creation of the wonderful costumes for all of our theatre productions. It is always gratifying when our work is recognized and we therefore in turn want to recognize the Messinas who will make it possible for the work to continue and flourish.

The faculty and students are grateful for the generous support from Mr. & Mrs. David Seng for establishing, in memorial, the Joseph A. McCabe Endowment for Excellence in Dramatic Arts.

Indiana University South Bend Ernestine M. Racklin School of the Arts Theatre Program.

Saint Mary’s College Department of Communication Studies, Dance & Theatre.

On behalf of the students, this production is dedicated to the memory of Jane K. Zusman, our dedicated costume shop manager from 1988 to 2010

for all the care she gave them during our productions.
