ACCOTINK STREAM VALLEY TRAILis part of the countywide trail plan. It is also a component of the Cross County Trail which stretches across the county from south to north. It links to Pohick Stream Valley and through the Laurel Hill Greenway to the Occoquan River in the south, and to Difficult Run Stream Valley to the Potomac River at Great Falls Park to the north.

This section of the CCT runs from the Fairfax County Parkway to the dam at Lake Accotink Park for a distance of approximately 4.3 miles. Mile Markers as shown on the map are approximate. Access points for this section of trail are through neighborhoods along the trail as shown on the map, as well as at Lake Accotink and Byron Avenue Parks. The trail surface is asphalt or concrete for its entire length. There is a steep hill from Hunter Village Drive down into the stream valley. There are at-grade crossings at the Parkway,

Rolling Road, and Hunter Village Drive. The trail runs under Old Keene Mill Road at the creek crossing. There is a small bridge and a fair-weather crossing on the section between the Parkway and Old Keene Mill Road. Three large steel frame bridges cross the Accotink between Hunter Village Drive and the Lake Accotink dam. The trail in this section is accessible to persons with disabilities. There is parking with accessible spaces at Byron Avenue Park off Old Keene Mill Road and at Lake Accotink Park. Lake Accotink Park includes a 50 acre lake with boating, fishing, and tourboat rides. Other fa-cilities include restrooms, drinking water, miniature golf, snack bar, carousel, playgrounds and picnic areas. The park is open year round. Facilities are open seasonally.
