Also known as the Coercive Acts, they were created to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party

Were a series of 5 laws intended to punish the colonists:

The Boston Port Act-closed the Boston Harbor until all of the tea that was thrown into the harbor was paid for by the people of Boston, went into effect on June 1, 1774

The Administration of Justice Act-allowed British officials to not be involved with criminal prosecution in MA, went into effect on May 20, 1774
