Where? The Mountain K2 is

in the borders between India, China and Pakistan but it is in control of Pakistan. K2 is part of a mountain range called the Himalayas. The Himalayas are also home to the Earth’s largest mountain, Mt. Everest.

Temperature and Weather in K2

TEMPERATURE WEATHER

The temperature on the summit of K2 is about the same as Mt. Everest. The temperature on the summit of Mt. Everest is around -73oC.

The problem with the weather in K2 is that it is not stable. It is common on K2 that sudden, unexpected storms have killed climbers on their decent.

K2, after Mount Everest, is the second highest mountain on the face of the Earth. With a peak elevation of 8,611 meters or 28251 ft.

Interesting facts about K2

K2 or Mount Godwin-Austen is the second highest peak in the world.

It is in the Karakoram, a mountain range in NW India, range on the Pakistan-China border.

The K of K2 is taken from the first letter of the Karakoram, and the number indicates that it was the second peak in the range to be measured.

It is 8,611 meters (28,250 feet) high. An Italian team led by Ardito Desio reached the

summit in 1954. The local name of K2 is Chogori, which in Baltic

language means the king of mountains. K2 was first climbed July 31st 1954
