History-About 100 years ago, it was just a little sea-

side town. -Many foreign businesses soon snatched up

property in this prime area, and the town of Shanghai flourished into a booming city!

-Back then, they were receiving many typhoons. Because of this, the municipal government decided to build a levee along the shoreline to protect the Bund.

Things to Do in the Shanghai Bund

Here are a few things you can do in the Shanghai Bund:

- Visit the Beautiful Yuyuan Garden- Visit the Jade Buddha temple- Take a bike tour- Take a boat tour- Or, shop at one of its many stores!

Fun FactsSome fun facts about the Shanghai Bund, are:In the Bund, there is museum dedicated to

the history of the Bund.There is one place you can go to, where you

take a ride through a some kind of a tube. This tube takes you to the other side of the Bund, across the river.

By the 1920’s and 1930’s, Shanghai was probably the most important city in Asia.
