The Northeast is north of the Southeast region, and east of the Midwest region.

The Northeast is directly south of Canada.

The northeast is on the East Coast of the United States.

The largest city in the region is New York.

New York’s Latitude is 40°43′″N, and it’s longitude is 74°00′″W.

The Northeast is comprised of the New England states and the Mid-Atlantic states.

New England’s states are as follows; Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The Mid-Atlantic states are New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The Adirondack, Green, and White mountains run through this region.

The largest ethnic groups are in this order. Irish, Italian, and German.

The Northern part of the Northeast has Cold winters and cool summers.

The southern part of the Northeast has warm summers and Cold winters.

People have always counted on high and low tide, so they can collect clams and oysters.

People use the abundance of wood in the Adirondack Forests for lumber.

People have chosen to live in this region not only for it’s beauty, but for it’s rich history and change of seasons.

Goods are transported in and out of this region mainly by boat, rail, truck, and plane.

The first Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts. (rock seen at right)

The world’s largest pearl was found off the coast of the Northeast.
