They Cheyenne usually settled in villages and lived in Teepees. They lived in different places based on the season. The women built the houses and moved everything when they moved locations.

Clothing

The Cheyenne women wore long deerskin dresses and high fringed boots. The Cheyenne men wore breechcloths with leather leggings and moccasins. Later men adapted to the plains water shirt that was worn by other tribes.

Food

The Cheyenne hunted buffalo. They hunted while mounted on swift horses. Cheyenne were originally farming people, and they grew corn, squash, and beans. Whenthey acquired horses, the lifestyle became more migratory and they mostly gave up farming and hunted deer and buffalo.

Family Life

The women did all the house chores like cleaning, crafting, sewing, and many more. The men were responsible for hunting and feeding their families. Cheyenne children helped around the house with their mothers.

Art

The Cheyenne are famous for their quill embroidery, native beading, pipestone carving, and pottery. The Cheyenne women or sometimes the children do all the arts and crafts.

government

The Cheyenne's had a council of 44 chiefs. There were also war chiefs that belonged to the Cheyenne. The warrior society leaders were entirely responsible for discipline within the tribe.

Religious Life

Many Cheyenne's follow their traditions, keeping their language and ceremonies alive. On the fourth of July the Northern Cheyenne Powwow is held. During the Powwow they wear traditional clothes.
