IntroductionWe are going to talk about water and how we can save water as

well. We are also going to talk about how we should treat water.

We can do lots of things with water like water plants, have a bath or a shower, wash dishes, drink water and use water for cooking. Water is so important because if there was no water we wouldn’t exist. Water can be wasted easily in our school so here is a few ways so we can save water.

1.After set dancing don’t go to wash your hands because you don't even need to.

2.Don’t go to the bathroom so you can get out of work

3.When your washing up after art don’t be too long

4.Try not to leave the tap on

WHERE DOES MY TAP WATER COME FROM?

The water from your tap can come from two places from the water in lakes or rivers (surface water), or from water that comes from wells (groundwater). Many people who live in large cities or towns get their water for drinking from lakes and rivers. But, most people in the United States get their drinking water from groundwater.

• Unclean water is responsible for millions of deaths each year.

• Diseases such as typhoid and cholera are widespread in countries where water is not treated.

• In Ireland water supplies are taken from rivers and lakes.• Water treatment describes those processes used to make

water more acceptable for a desired end-use.• These can conclude use as drinking water, industrial

processes, medical and many more uses.

In this part of the water treatment all the little particles of dirt are taken out of the water.

This is done by chemicals thrown into the water. These chemical particles of dirt stick together so they get heavy and sink to the bottom. If this isn’t clever what is???

• When a material and a liquid, such

as water come together, the

material will fall to the bottom,

leaving the liquid at the top. The

material left at the bottom is called

sediment.

Most particles pass through surface layers but are trapped in pore spaces or adhere to sand particles. Effective filtration extends into the depth of the filter. This property of the filter is key to its operation: if the top layer of sand were to block all the particles, the filter would quickly clog.

Advantages:Filters out much smaller particles than paper and sand filters can. Filters out virtually all particles larger than their specified pore sizes. They are quite thin and so liquids flow through them fairly rapidly. They are reasonably strong and so can withstand pressure differences across them of typically 2-5 atmospheres. They can be cleaned (back flushed) and reused.

• Disinfection is an important step in ensuring that water is safe to drink.

• Disinfection kills or inactivates disease causing organisms in a water supply and must provide a 99.9 percent inactivation.

• There are two types of disinfection: Primary disinfection and Secondary disinfection.

Solids Removal

• Slow sand filters may be used where there is sufficient land and space as the water must be passed very slowly through the filters.

• The filters are constructed using layers of sand, along with some gravel at the bottom and the finest sand at the top.

• An effective slow sand filter may remain in surface for many weeks or even months if the pre-treatment is well designed.

Distribution

• The energy that the system needs to deliver water is called pressure .

• Water supply is part of the planning communities counties and country.

• Construction occurs using the expertise of the builders called contractors.

• 43 percent of water disrupted doesn’t reach taps.

From this project we learned how important water is in our lives. We hope that you learned as much as we did and from now on you will try not to waste water.

Thank you for listening , we hope you enjoyed it!!!
