AN OUTER SPACE ADVENTURE

By: Kaleb MitchellFeaturing Chase Comet, Astronaut Extraordinaire!

Chase Comet’s Amazing Adventure in Space

“Hi I'm Chase Comet, Astronaut Extraordinaire. Welcome to our space

adventure!”

Our Ship

Buckle your seat belts and get ready for an awesome adventure as we

blast in to space!

3…2…1… LIFT OFF!!!

“Hang on! Here we go!!!

“Here we are! Isn’t it pretty?”

Here we are. Oh! Look at all the planets in our solar system…

The Sun

“What’s that big bright light over there?”

The Sun is the only part of the Solar System that is burning and exploding every second

The Sun is the only thing that produces heat in our Solar System

From Earth, the Sun appears to rise in the East and set in the West, but the sun never moves… WE DO!

Mercury – Closest Planet to the Sun Mercury is closest to the Sun in our

Solar System, which makes it the hottest planet.

Mercury is the smallest planet in our Solar System

It moves the fastest around the Sun, but rotates very slowly on its axis

A day on Mercury lasts 176 Earth Days (between our sunrise and sunsets)

Venus “The Morning & Evening Star Venus is the hottest of all planets. It is known as the Morning Star & The

Evening Star to our Earth depending on the time of year.

9 out of 10 of the planet’s landforms are Volcanoes

Earth

Earth is the only planet that has life on it

The reason why is Mercury is too hot Venus is too hot and Mars is too cold for living things

It is the third planet from the sun It orbits the sun while spinning to

the East

The Moon (Earth’s Satellite) The moon revolves around the Earth,

meaning it is Earth’s satellite From Earth, it appears to set in the

West The moon never looks the same from

Earth two days in a row because the Earth’s shadow blocks the sunlight from hitting it.

Mars – the Red Planet

Mars is known as the Red Planet because of the way it looks in the sky in outer space

It is the fourth planet away from the sun, and the first spacecraft to land there was the Mariner 4 in 1965

Because water has been found on Mars it is at the top of the list for possible life-bearing planets.

The largest planet in our solar system

Rotates so quickly its days are only 10 hours long

It takes 12 Earth years for Jupiter to orbit around the Sun.

The great red spot on Jupiter is a storm that’s been going on for 300 years

You could put 100 Earths in Jupiter’s red spot

Jupiter – A Heavenly Giant

Saturn is the second largest planet It has seven rings around it. They are

made up of space junk… billions of pieces of rocks and dust

Saturn is so light it could float on water if there was an ocean large enough to hold it.

Saturn – the planet with Rings

All good things must come to an end!Chase Comet says “It’s been a great

trip, but we live on the most beautiful planet of all, so let’s go home!”

There’s No Place Like Home!“Thanks for coming along with me on

our exciting Outer Space Adventure!”

“I hope you enjoyed your trip with me into the great big wide open space. – Come again some other time and we’ll learn so much more!” - Your Friend, Chase Comet
