He was a junior office for an ocean liner. School ship HMS Conway is a Training navel academy, where he attended. He then start writing Saltwater Ballads when he became ill and had to come home. Speaker The speaker of the poem feels the need to go back to a place where he hasnt been in a while. He wants the day to go smoothly. End rhyme: The end of each line has a rhyming word.

Figurative meaning The figurative meaning of the poem is about life and how he wants his life to go.As he is sleeping he is dreaming of a perfect day like the sea.
