What does the toolbar do?

• You need to play with each item to work out what they can do.

• You can add pictures• You can add music• You can add effects• You can add colours• You can add backgrounds• You can add logos• You can add hyperlinks• You can add word art• You can add graphics• You can add sound effects

Adding Pictures• Go to insert on the toolbar choose

picture• Choose from file or clip art• Click on the picture you want to insert• Resize it if you need to for the slide to

look best• By clicking on the green circle your

mouse pointer becomes a round arrow and you can rotate the picture

Adding Music• Go to insert on the toolbar• Select movies and sound• Play CD audio track• Choose OK in the next box• Decide when you want the sound to start –

automatically or when clicked• An icon then appears on the slide you were

adding sound to• Double click on the CD icon and it will start to

play

Adding Animation Effects• Click on design (top right hand corner)• Choose animation schemes• The effects chosen will affect all text in

the selected text box• When you have chosen the effect the

slide will give you a preview• These are fun to play with and you can

have a different effect for each slide

Adding Colours• Choose design again• Select colour schemes• Decide on the colours you want and on

how many slides you want it and click on the down arrow on the colour scheme icon

• You can choose apply to all slides or apply to selected slides

Adding Logos• Go to insert on the toolbar• Select picture from file• Go to your directory where the school

crest is found (shared admin)• Click on the logo• Choose insert and then it will appear on

the slide• You can resize it by clicking on the

white circles around it

Adding Hyperlinks• Select the text you want to link• Go to insert on the toolbar• Choose hyperlink• Choose place in this document• Select the slide you want to link to• Go to the slide you just linked and select the

title/text and insert a hyperlink to go back to the contents page

• You can only use the hyperlink when in slide show mode

Inserting Word Art• This is the same process as adding

a picture except you choose word art from the insert picture tool

Adding Graphics• Go to the Draw toolbar at the bottom of the

screen• Choose auto shapes• Select the shape you want to add• The cursor changes to a cross• Where you click will be the start of the shape

you draw• These can be resized and rotated• They can also be sent to the background

Adding Sound Effects• Click on Slide Show on the toolbar• Select Slide Transition• Go to modify transition • Choose the sound you want from the

drop down choices

How to run your slide show

• Select the first slide in your presentation

• Click slide show from toolbar then view show OR

• Click on the icon in bottom right hand corner toolbar
