About Michelle
• Michelle was born in Torrance, CA on July 7, 1980
• Michelle Kwan’s parents were immigrants from Hong Kong, China
• She was the third child of Danny and Estella Kwan
Accomplishments
• When she was 13 Michelle came 8th in the 1994 world championships
• Michelle took silver in the 1994 U.S. championships when she was 14
• Michelle has won 5 world championships and 9 U.S. championships
• She has also achieved 54 perfect scores• At the 1998 Winter Olympics she took the silver• And in the 2002 Winter Olympics she won the
bronze
Challenges
• Michelle was absent from the 2006-2007 season because of a groin injury
• Trying to get the gold in the Olympics
Facts on Michelle
• Michelle Kwan’s Chinese name is Kwan Wing Shan(關永山 )
• She quoted “The Train Ride of Life and its sequential stops” when she made the decision to go to college and take a break from skating
