Before mapping the information I had to get the informationThere was currently no Info on where the public pools were in MATo get this Info I made a list of all the recreation centers in MAThen I started making phone calls263 to be exact

Page 3: By: Dillon Herman

The spreadsheet had the name, address, city, zip code, and telephone number of every recreation centerAfter finding which rec. centers had a pool I had to geocoded the information so I could use it in ArcMap

To geocode I had to save the excel file as a CSV delimited fileThen in ArcCatalog I had to create an address locatorI right clicked the file I was saving it to went new, address locator, then clicked the layer I downloaded from Mass GIS

After geocoding my information I added it to the Road layer map

To put the layerer in Arcmap I started by downloading the Datalayers form the 2000 U.S censusI found the road layers on the Mass GIS websiteAfter downloading the layers I opened ArcMap and added the data

Most of the Public Pools are to the East of 495Most likely because that is where there is the highest concentration of people

West of 495 the pools are more spread outSome places have no pools in the area

To make this more accurate I should have also called all the High schools to find out if they had poolsUsually if a High school has a pool they make it available for public use
