•In 1900 House Bill proposed to the Louisiana General Assembly that the Magnolia be adopted as the state flower

•It was chosen because of its abundant of this tree throughout the state

• It features a pelican tending its three chicks in their nest

• The story is that the pelican actually tearing off some of its flesh to give to the chicks

• It is a famous place to go

• The Saints are a famous NFL team

National Historical Park

• Where the Civil War Flag is hung

• A memorial for the troops that fought in the war

• A lot of cannons from the war are stationed there
