Houses

We think the houses in Skara Brae would have had quite tall cone shaped roofs, built from wood or bone and coved with seaweed. Life inside the houses would have been warm, with beds having bracken mattresses to lie on and blankets out of sheep skin or deer hide. The later houses followed basic design, but a larger scale.

Food

The food was raw that they had been eating their diet also involved meat and organs like liver, brain and kidneys. The people from this era hardly consumed milk or grains as farming was still not discovered.

Transport

Boats were important to travel. Travelling on rivers would have been much swifter, in most cases, than travelling by land before modern roads were built. Boats would also have been able to carry much more cargo than pack animals and most early wheeled vehicles. Sea crossings would have been dangerous but were important trade routes.
