Common warts Warts are caused by

the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).(1)

HPV infects the squamous epithelium.(2)

HPV causes benign growths on the skin these growths are referred to as warts or papillomas. (2)

How did that get there? HPV likes warm,

moist places like small cuts or scratches.

Warts begin to grow and can grow for months even years before they are noticeable.

People who bite their nails get warts more often.
