It’s a pleasure doing business in
downtown Frederick. Thank you
for your patronage.
WOW! 20 seasons of producing theatre in Frederick, MD! That’s exciting!
Whether this is your first or 100th MET show, thank you, so much, for joining us. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) is our 120th main-stage production. We began our journey in June of 1998 producing the MET created Finally Heard! Feminine Heroes of an Uncivil War and have been producing year-round in Historic Downtown Frederick ever since!
If you are a local, or just visiting, we hope you have a chance to explore our great hometown. Over 30 restaurants are within walking distance, plenty of places to shop, parking is cheap or free, and there are many, many options for nightlife after the show.
If you are unfamiliar with MET, we have a resident ensemble of over 35 artists, a staff of 8, and 15 board members who dedicate massive energy as they pour their souls into every corner of our work. In addition to mainstage theatre, we have a second stage theatre space (The Greene Space/S2) where we produce our Fun Company family theatre plays. Opening September 16th is The Dinosaur Play which is selling very quickly, so, get your tickets ASAP for that one! The Comedy Pigs improvisation are onstage on September 23 & 30 and our Ensemble School classes (ages 7 to adult) begin the week of Sept. 11th. Our Arts & Education program brings the playmaking process to many elementary and middle schools around the county, so, if you are a PTA member and are interested in that program in your school, give us a call. As you can see, we are extremely busy as we work to bring the excitement of theatre to every age group!
Our ensemble, board and staff are committed to interesting, entertaining, provocative and joyful theatre art. As an ensemble we work together to build theatre, which sparks audience dialogue, which builds community. We are so thankful that you have made the choice to spend some time with us; we hope you have a great time at MET!

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) will kick off our 20th season! This play is our “homage” to 19 seasons of theatre- a play that was featured in just our 2nd season at the MET sandwiched between Beth Henley’s Crimes of the Heart and Steve Martin’s Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Our original MET production was directed by Gene’ Fouche’ featuring a cast that included me, Joel Bowers, and Kevin Corbett (who now makes a living with The Capitol Steps where he does an incredible Trump impersonation among others).
This play is just fun! The style is very liberating for the performers, as it skates an arc between script and improvisation, classical and contemporary, reality and fantasy, seriousness and mockery; all while actually having a true love for the Bard’s incredible work.
We hope you enjoy this raucous journey, and, we hope Will appreciates our attempt at shoving his 37 plays and sonnets into less than 100 minutes!
