Wastewater Generation Scenario
Bengaluru is supplied with 1400 MLD of water fromCauvery River and approximately 250MLD water isaugmented from public/private Borewells. 80% of the water supplied will convert in to
wastewater i.e. 1650 x 0.80 = 1320 MLD Out of which Approximately 528 MLD (40%) will flow in V Valley Approximately 528 MLD (40%) will flow in K & C Valley Approximately 264 MLD (20%) will flow in Hebbal
Valley
Wastewater Conveyance Scenario Core area – 245 Sq. Kms. – pipes were laid 45 to 50 years back
(i) Laterals – 3300 Kms – repaired/ replaced/ rehabilitated as and when neededfrom the Board revenue
(ii) Sub Mains/ Mains/ Trunk Sewers – 300 Kms – repair/ replacement/rehabilitation taken up in phases depending upon the receipt of funds from theout side/ external agencies as Board is not in a position fund the projects. As ofnow, out of 300 Kms sub mains replaced/ rehabilitated 51 Kms – Works areunder progress and completed by end of 2017 (70 Kms) and recentlyapproved under AMRUT - 74 Kms costing Rs.500 Cr for which DPR is underpreparation and works are expected to be completed by end of 2019.
(1) EAP – A – completed (33 Kms at a cost of Rs.47 Cr)(2) Hebbal Zero flow – completed (18 Kms at a cost of Rs.45 Cr)(3) EAP – B – rehabilitation work is under progress (70 Kms at a revised cost
of Rs.495 Cr) – expected to be completed by end of 2017(4) EAP – C – proposed at a cost of Rs.642.97 Cr - (EAP-C – 74 Kms – Rs.500

Wastewater Conveyance Scenario – contd. Erstwhile CMC / TMC area – 330 Sq. Kms. – Added to BBMP in
2006 – there was no UGD network during the formation of BBMP – BWSSB has initiated UGD works under KMRP/ JnNURUM/ State Funding/ BWSSB Funds at a cost of Rs.1200 Cr. (i) Laterals – 2400 Kms.(ii) Sub Mains/ Mains/ Trunk Sewers – 340 KmsNow the 90% of the project is completed and balance will becompleted by end of 2016. Additional lateral network in twoerstwhile CMC/ TMC costing Rs.55 Cr was approved under AMRUT– expected to be completed by end of 2017
110 Village area – 225 Sq. Kms. – Added to BBMP in 2007 – No water supply and UGD facilities – depend upon bore well water supply and soak pits – temporarily discharging into natural drains – BWSSB has initiated the project costing Rs.5100 Cr for water and UGD facility – Now with JICA for funding
Wastewater Treatment Scenario Existing – 14 Nos. – 721 MLD capacity – treating up to 80% capacity due to
connectivity problem – works are under progress – full capacity utilization by end of 2016
Under Constructions – 10 Nos. – 336 MLD capacity – expected to be completed – K & C Valley by March 2017 – V Valley by end of 2018

Measures taken to abate pollution of Bellandur Lake
Varthur lake is on the down stream side of Bellandur lake
The over flow from Bellandur lake and flow from the catchment between Bellandur lake and Varthur lake joins
The sewage flow from the catchment between these two lakes is going to be addressed in 110 Village project – requires 4 years time once the project is approved – by 2020
As short term plan, sprinklers are deployed to reduce the foam formation in the wasteweir
Measures taken to abate pollution of Varthur Lake
