And of course because some pottery, such as Polish Pottery or Polish Stoneware, is hand painted even uniformed pottery of similar shapes and sizes can have a unique appearance.Our hardwearing Polish stoneware oven and tableware is made in Lower Silesia - in the small town of Boleslawiec - in a region naturally rich in white clay, using techniques more than 100 years old.Making the pottery is a two stage process: Firstly, clay is mixed and shaped with moulds. The moulds themselves have been made by hand. Every piece is hand finished by trimming and smoothing edges

and attaching small parts such as handles if required. Once fully shaped, every piece is fired for the first time in a kiln at a temperature of 850°C.

Hardened pieces are hand decorated with sponge stamps or painted with a mixture of sponge stamping and paintbrush technique, they are then glazed and fired in the kiln a second time at 1,250°C.
