Home economics, art, science and engi-neering, ag exhibit blue ribbons and out-staning juniors 4-H exhibitors in grades 5-12 were con-sidered for state fair by Butler County Ex-tension Office staff. Fourth-graders received a special purple ribbon as an outstanding junior, but were not eligible for the state fair (Aug. 7-17). 2014 State Fair Winners Announced Butler County is very proud of all the young people who participated in the 4-H program and we want to recognize those who have displayed outstanding exhibits in the local fair. The Butler County 4-H staff wants to announce State Fair winners from the Non-Livestock judging held Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Market Aplington’s Jodie Johnson captured grand champion market beef honors, with Libby Janssen of Wellsburg claiming reserve. Also, Allison’s Marc Johnson had the champion Butler County raised market beef, and Ainsley Lovrien of Clarksville took Re-serve. Champion market heifer went to Lovrien as well, with Keivan Oldenburger of Parkers-burg claiming reserve. Additional blue ribbons were won by: McKenzie Feckers, Keivan Oldenburger, James Seehusen, Nicole Heeren, Josie Olden-burger, Kasidy Mohwinkle, MaKenna Brou-wer, Madison Johnson, Jase Wiebke, Simon Garbes, Abbie Wix, Lauren Jepperson, Missy Aswegen, Collin Chesnut, Amanda Eiklen-borg, Jaima White, Evan Bixby and Dalton Feckers.Breeding Supreme champion female went to Kassi Rice of Parkersburg, while Johnson grabbed reserve honors. Shell Rock’s Dalton Feckers topped the competition in the beef rate of gain contest at the Butler County Fair. Feckers’ calf averaged a weight gain of 4.24 pounds. Runner-up honors went to Allison’s Ab-bie Wix, with an average weight gain of 3.87 pound per day.

Nate Hemann of Parkersburg won cham-pion and reserve champion individual mar-ket lambs at the 4-H/FFA Sheep Show. Blue ribbon winners were: Justine Grum-mitt, Noah Oldenburger, Jared Brouwer, Sarah Goorich, Jacob Goodrich, Kyle Sher-burne, Trevor Rule, Nick Oldenburger, Brit-ney Gibson, Brynn Salge and Sydney Rule. Champion pen of three was awarded to Kyle Sherburne of Aplington, with Syd-ney Rule, also of Aplington, taking reserve champion honors. Others receiving blues were: Sarah Goodrich, Nick Oldenburger, Noah Oldenburger, Jacob Goodrich and Haily Backer. Champion ewe lamb was awarded to Kyle Sherburne of Aplington, with Parkers-burg’s Nate Hemann of Parkersburg earning reserve champion honors. Others receiving blues were: Sydney Rule, Jacob Goodrich, Hailey Backer, Kyle Sherburne, Seyann Luhring, Trevor Rule, Sarah Goodrich, Nick Oldenburger and Noah Oldenburger. Both champion purebred ram and reserve

champion honors went to Seyann Luhring of Parkersburg. Triston Easton of Dumont also received a blue ribbon. Luhring of Parkersburg was champion and reserve champion purebred ewe as well, with Tristan Easton of Dumont grabbing a blue. Sheep showmanship awards went to: Senior champion showman - Nate Hemann, Parkersburg Res. senior champion showman - Sydney Rule, Aplington Champion intermediate showman - Kyle Sherburne, Aplington Res. intermediate champion showman - Nick Oldenburger, Parkersburg Champion junior showman - Trevor Rule, Aplington Res. junior champion showman - Seyann Luhring, Parkersburg Joslynn Miller of New Hartford was the champion and reserve champion in meat goat. Champion showman of meat goat went to Jacob Goodrich of Greene.

In the 4-H/FFA Pet Show, Sarah Go-odrich of Greene and Allison’s Beth Ho-meister took champion and reserve cham-pion honors in the overall pet category. Greene’s Alysha Fox earned champion costume pet, while Aplington’s Hannah Finch won champion dog with Emma.
