But Copernicus remained in Italy, where he attended the Jubilee of 1500. He also went to Rome, where he observed a lunar eclipse and gave lectures in astronomy and mathematics.

In 1497, Watzenrode was ordained Bishop of Warmia, and Copernicus was named a canon at Frombork Cathedral.
