About LeMoyne‐Owen College
LeMoyne‐Owen College is a four‐year
liberal arts institution that prepares
students to become critical thinkers, to
lead productive and successful lives,
and to make positive contributions to
their respective communities.
LeMoyne‐Owen occupies a beautifully
landscaped campus about ten minutes
from downtown Memphis and one
block from the Stax Museum and
Academy of American Soul Music.
With a rich heritage that dates back to
1862, the College promotes diversity in
its student body, staff and faculty. Its
core curriculum, which emphasizes a
multicultural education, is a national
model shown to build student confi‐
dence. The student is challenged by a
rigorous course of study in English
communication, literature, African
American history, humanities, natural
science, biological science, mathemat‐
ics, social science, and lifetime fit‐
ness—all while pursuing the require‐
ments of his or her academic major.

In the event of inclement weather conditions, the College may delay open‐ing, close for the day, or close early. The decision of such disruptions of opera‐tion will be made by the President and communicated to the college communi‐ty by the Office of Student Affairs or a designee. In the event that such an emergency occurs during non‐working hours, employees are required to listen to the radio or television whenever an‐nouncements are imminent. Also, the campus community will receive text message alerts via the e2Campus emergency text messaging system. This system allows students, staff, and faculty to sign up at no cost to receive text messages regarding School Emergencies, School Closings, Inclem‐ent Weather and School Announce‐ments. Students, staff, and faculty must register their telephone numbers in or‐der to participate in the program. Regis‐tration may be done by logging on to the campus Home Page and Clicking on e2Campus. Please note that if you have a telephone provider that charges for text messaging, you will incur text messag‐ing charges for messages received from the college. If you change your tele‐phone number you will need to update the information in the e2Campus Sys‐tem. Additionally, the College will main‐tain a 24‐Hour Communication Center at (901) 435‐1464 (Security) to inform students, faculty, and staff when the school will re‐open for classes. All previ‐ously scheduled events (i.e. athletic games, etc.) at the college will be can‐celed until further notice.
