HOW DO APPRENTICESHIPS WORK?Apprenticeships are an alternative to traditional classroom

training as learners will be based in the workplace (although

this depends on industry sector and level) picking up

specialist industry skills.

Apprenticeships can last anywhere between 12-48 months

where they will work alongside you or your employees

and will receive a national minimum wage (varies

depending on age) for the hours they work.

Throughout the duration of the programme, both

you and the Apprentice will receive full support by

our experienced employment team.

WHAT ARE THE COSTS?There is usually no cost for taking on

an Apprentice for business beyond the

Apprentices salary. Employers tend to prefer

hiring an Apprentice as it cuts down the cost

of job advertising and management.

All Apprentices have to be paid in

line with the National Minimum Wage

(varies depending on age), however

many employers tend to increase this

slightly. For full details on the National

On Average, Apprentices

work between 35-38 hours

per week (40 hours max)

which includes time in

and out of college.

> Work with Trafford College to ensure that Apprentices are able to put their learning into practice and develop their skills.

> Allow Assessor visits for the learner and participate in reviews.

> Pay the Apprentice a wage or salary, providing an induction and treating them as you would any other employee.

> Give Apprentices time to learn and study by allowing them to attend training, supervising their practice and ensuring their health and safety.

> Secure the mandatory industry and legal requirements for employees, eg: DBS checks, Health and Safety checks, Employer Liability Insurance/Public liability.

> Provide at least 30 hours per week on the job training (Maximum 40 hours per week)

> Free Recruitment Service, including advertising on NAS, JCP, Connexions, Careers Service, Work Program Providers and our own Website.

> We will screen candidates for you.

> The Skills Funding Agency may need to contact you if your company isn’t already on their website. We will assign you with a unique employer number so we can advertise your apprenticeship vacancy; if they do need to contact you it can take up to 10 days once we have submitted a request.

A.G.E. 16-24 will support young people

aged 16-24 in securing an Apprenticeship
