With inubit BPM, all process management phases are seamlessly integrated. But what does this mean for you? Modeling and simulationBusiness processes are graphically displayed in inubit BPM as process models. Thanks to this model-based approach, even business users without any specific IT knowledge can carry out this task. The modeled processes can be simulated before they go live in order to assess the efficiency of the process design.

Modeling of business processes

inubit BPM offers you all the tools you need to graphically model and optimize processes, rules, organizations, resources, and IT systems. This creates the basis for subsequent process automation. All model types have a completely hierarchical structure and are fully connectable. They are versioned and stored – with access permissions – in the central repository and in several languages, if appropriate. Existing processes can be imported from external systems.

Intuitive, user-friendly design with a systematic graphical approach.

Graphically modeling business processesSubject-specific process models can be modeled as business process diagrams (BPDs) in accordance with BPMN 2.0. A built-in validation step ensures syntactic correctness, allowing business users without specific BPMN know-how to work with it directly. In addition to process models, process maps can also be modeled for visualizing the entire process landscape including responsibilities.

Visualizing corporate structures and IT landscapesTo display the corporate structure, org charts can be modeled or incorporated (via Active Directory, LDAP, or SAP HR). This enables you to model the organization and define personnel resources, including organizational units, roles, representatives, and working times. In addition, system diagrams visualize the IT and service infrastructure (including via SOA maps) and allow you to configure third-party systems and manage partners.

Simulating process and rule models Modeled process sequences can be simulated prior to technical implementation. Step-by-step simulation validates processes based on their sequence. Expanded simulation goes even further: by realistically incorporating all necessary and available resources (materials, personnel, work schedules, etc.), it can indicate the actual output times and loads. Graphical feedback helps to evaluate the results.

DocumentationIn order to show defined company processes to all employees in the interest of transparency or to have them available in the context of an ISO audit, all models can be published in the intranet portal using the Process Viewer. In addition, documenta-tion of processes in the form of a process handbook is a fixed part of inubit BPM. You can automatically generate the reports you need and individually configure their scope, layout, and format.

Implementation and execution

inubit BPM enables you to implement modeled business processes quickly and easily. The graphical configuration of executable workflows and their generation from business-oriented models lead to a noticeable boost in efficiency. In inubit BPM you can navigate from a high-level business process to a detailed process and on to an executable process without media disruption. This allows you to allocate technical error messages directly to their respective contexts, for example, or link tasks in the task list.

Monitoring and reporting

inubit BPM ensures the technical traceability of processes by means of comprehensive logging and monitoring. To do this, inubit BPM gathers the requisite data and supplies it in real time.

Reporting▶ Report Viewer: Displays the reports created

in the Workbench. Visualized as personalized dashboards, users can gain a quick overview of the relevant business information. All information available in the portal is linked to the underlying process models. This makes it easy for users to put the information into the process context.

▶ Process Data Logger: Permits process data to be obtained flexibly from running process instances, which is compared against target data from the process model. Animated diagram types visualize the process data that has been obtained. Drill-downs can be defined for detailed information.

Technical monitoring▶ Queue Manager: Gives users the option of viewing

the status of all pending processes and those that have not yet been successfully completed, as well as stopping, restarting, resuming, and deleting processes, and of analyzing errors.

▶ System Log: Technical workflows and system processes that have already been executed are displayed here. Detailed information – such as status, priorities, and process IDs – is available for every entry.

▶ Audit Log: Records all administrative actions that users execute on the server (e.g. login/logout) as well as changes to module and workflow configurations.

Design and architecturePlatform-independent and open.

The perfect partner for your system environment: inubit BPM is platform-independent, has an open architecture entirely based on Java/J2EE, and uses XML as its main data format. In addition, it has a command-line interface (CLI) and fully supports SNMP and 64-bit computing.

High availability and failure safety An active/active cluster means that you can run the software on a network of several computers (aka “cluster network”). The two main advantages of this are failure safety and scalability: if one node fails, the other nodes take over its processes and the system can continue uninterrupted.
