Separate Employee Trigger: Concept Job Aid and Business Process
Purpose There are three types of employee separations from the University: Voluntary Separation, Involuntary Separation and Death. Each separation is handled differently. Hiring managers must discuss each separation with the Department of Employment in order to process each type of separation. Voluntary Separation: Upon receiving written notification from an employee, notify the Department of Employment of an employee's desire to voluntarily resign from a position. Note: A copy of the aforementioned notice must be received by the Department of Employment to process the request. Involuntary Separation: Prior to starting this process you are required to consult with the Department of Employee Relations for a pre-termination review that will be subject to approval by the Office of General Counsel. Once the Department of Employee Relations has been granted authorization by the Office of General Counsel, you will be advised to initiate an employee's separation. Death: Separation of an employee due to employee death requires receipt of a certified death notice which must be sent to the Department of Employment to process the request.
