Fryeburg Academy enjoys a storied history – John Hancock even signed its

charter. But after fire destroyed its field house, the private school feared its

future could be in jeopardy.

“The school had never faced this type of catastrophe before,” says Barbara

Kollander, the school’s business manager. “We were at a critical juncture.”

With its future in the balance, the school met with six banks to discuss how

they could rebuild.
