When a Rural Transit Accident/Incident
Occurs

The Florida’s Department of Transportation in
conjunction with the National Center for Transit Research (NCTR) heard
this call for help by Florida’s rural transit
providers and responded.
Florida’s Response to Rural Providers
• In 2005 FDOT funded the development of a tracking system that would help rural transit providers with a tool to track, trend and analyze their accidents/ incidents
• Tracking this data is a requirement under Florida Statute 1490.004

partnered again to provide technical assistance and support to rural transit system, by providing them with a video on the rules & responsibilities of accident /incident investigation
