Her Bones In The Sand

The video…• The genre of the video is live. Throughout the

whole video there is only footage of the band playing live. The cuts are very quick, relating to the fast pace of the song. Most of the shots are meduim shots of members playing individually with a few long shots showing the whole band playing. The effect this has is to reflect the energy of this genre. Certain techniques are used in filming, for example flour on drum skins and water on drum cymbals for certain drum hits; this enmphasises these parts.

• This video is for a small band not much bigger than my own so they have a similar budget. They have used lighting around the side of a dark room to create light then edited this well to make it look good.

This picture was taken from the “behind the scenes” album. It shows the actual lighting levels before editing.

This picture shows how the video looked after editing.

Album cover• This cover is

unconventional as the band name and album title are not actually on the cover. The album name is “Portraits”

And the image on the cover is a portrait of a woman. The colours used are dull colours and the image looks rough.

Poster

• The poster includes the image of the album cover so people can recognise it in shops. The colours used are similar to the album cover. The broken glass in the background shows aggression which is stereotypical of this genre. The poster has the usual release dates, review and record labels on it too.

Synergy and Intertexuality

• Synergy and Intertextuality can be seen throughout this digipack. All of the products look similar and use the same ideas. They are easily recognisable to each other, for example if I saw the poster I would instantly think of the album cover. Synergy and Intertextuality have been used well here.
