news is to ask yourself…

Is this story to do with a particular problem in society or the world?



What has happened?

• What is the current situation?

• What has happened so far?

• What led to the current situation, or what helped to cause it?



Why is it important

• Would it make people happier?

• Would it save money?

• Would it make people safer?

• Many other possible good reasons…

to solve this problem?



Who’s involved?

• Who is affected by the problem?

• Who could help solve it?

• Think about politicians, business people, parents, children, teachers, police officers, etc.



Difficulties

• People disagree on the best solution

• It is too expensive to fix it

• Fixing this problem would cause other problems

• You could only fix this problem by doing something unfair

• Many other possible reasons

What makes it difficult to solve this problem?
