ALSTOM is a global leader in the energy and transport mar-kets and is a manufacturer of large turbines, motors and loco-motives. At the plant in Belfort France, this year a new heating system was installed with a total of three hot water boilers type SE 95 / SE 90 of STEIN ENERGIE Chaudières Industrielles – Viessmann Group. Since its commissioning in October 2013 the new plant heats the production halls of ALSTOM. Powerful gas burners marathon® M 5001.4 of dreizler® in the version MONObloc and LOW-NOx make sure the hot water supply. And as always with the usual low emissions: Reliable, efficient and clean.

Cofely Services GDF Suez, one of the leading plant engineers in France, has been optimally implemented the technical require-ments in cooperation with CORETEC (Construction and turn-key installation), the boiler manufacturer STEIN ENERGIE Chaudières Industrielles - Viessmann Group and dreizler®.

French automotive industry relies on marathon® burner technology

Proven and first-class marathon® burner technology of dreizler®, combined with the advanced boiler technology of Bosch Industriekessel GmbH, ensure a clean and low-emission steam generation in France.

Many thanks to all the involved and above all, to LCI Group (LOOS CHAUDIERES INDUSTRIELLES, exclusive partner for Bosch in France) for the good cooperation and their confi-dence in our burner technology.

Advanced steam generation in the automotive industry:This year, one of the largest car manufacturers in France renewed the boiler installation for steam and hot water generation. An old water-tube boiler was replaced by a modern steam boiler of Bosch Industriekessel GmbH / LCI Group. On a double flame tube boiler ZFR-X in three-pass tech-nique 2 x dreizler® gas burners marathon® M 10003.5 V90 ARZ in version DUObloc were installed. The equipment with speed control frequency and oxygen control oxygen allows for efficient utilization of fuel; the patented inter-nal flue gas recirculation ARZ guarantees the low-emission combustion with very low NOx emissions: Fire and flame for exemplary emission values.

The new burner installation was put into operation in October 2013 and it serves primarily to heat the production halls of the automobile manufacturer.

Examples of a burner installation in Austria

The Messe Wien is probably the most important trade fair site in Austria. Throughout the year there are various events and trade shows held in many different areas: Vienna Autoshow, Bauen & Energie Vienna, as well as Aquatherm and Power-Gen Europe in the field of energy and heating technology.

Two existing boilers of Omnical were equipped by dreizler® gas burners marathon® M 5001.1 ARZ. Due to the reverse flame tube construction of the boiler, the required NOx values were a challenge. According to the Austrian Furnace Regulation (FAV) very low NOx values < 93 mg/kWh had to be maintained. With optimum engineering and through the use of a special flame tube, excellent NOx values < 80 mg/kWh were measured during the commissioning of the two marathon® burners. The ambitious project was realized by GETEC Energie- & Gebäudetechnik GmbH from Vienna, who is successfully estab-lished in the field of plant and heating technology. We thank the Wiener Messe Besitz GmbH and GETEC GmbH for the good cooperation.

The Textile Service Brolli GesmbH in Graz is a traditional fam-ily-owned company in the field of textile supply systems and related services.

Already more than 12 years ago, a dual fuel burner marathon® MC 10001.2 has been put into operation, which has always met its service with the usual reliability.

This year, another dreizler® burner was installed: A gas burner marathon® M 5001.4 ARZ was mounted to a steam boiler type THD-I 6.500 of astebo.

Thanks to the structural advantages of the marathon® burners and the individual engineering, a maximum turndown ratio and very low NOx values were reached:NOx value required < 100 mg/kWh NOx value measured < 90 mg/kWh

Examples of burner installations

Operators of water tube boilers often face special tasks: Superheated steam with pressures higher than 80 bar or with su-perheated temperatures well above 400 °C are not uncommon. In the field of hot wa-ter generation, there are usually required very high capacities e.g. up to 100 MW per boiler and very fast reaction rates.

Under the 4. BImSchV and the 13. BImSchV, these water-tube boilers have been classified in the range of NOx values depending on the medium tem-perature: e.g. for gas: 100, 110 or 150 mg/m3 on medium temperatures of < 110°C, > 110 °C and >210 °C.In the EU Guideline 2010/75/EU „In-dustrial Emissions“ now for all plants

Shortly after the expi-ry of the transitional period in 2010 (13. BImSchV), a dead-line until 2016 to com-ply with the new EU-conform limits will now concern many operators of water-tube boilers.

The special characteristics of marathon® gas burners and dual fuel burners by dreizler® harmonize perfectly with the typical geometry of the combustion chambers of water-tube boilers. The in-ternal flue gas recirculation ARZ or the excellent flame technology hollowflame® for liquid or gaseous fuels, enable an extremely low-emission combustion. Especially due to the possibility of an adjustable swirl number, also boilers with extreme short combustion chambers may surely be operated with LOW-NOx < 100 mg/m3.

The European gas market is subject to significant changes. To improve the sup-ply situation in Europe with the environ-mentally friendly fuel gas, the inclusion of all available sources of supply in addi-tion to the previous is considered neces-sary. Here it is about liquefied natural gas quantities to be fed via 27 European terminals on the coast.

The gases from Lybia, Egypt, Nigeria and other sources vary in their natural compo-sition and together with the pipeline gas from Russia, the Netherlands or from the North Sea, they have a different Wobbein-dex (Energy density).

In addition, the Netherlands will not supply more natural gas L until 2029, because sources and reservoirs will be closed. This intra-European natural gas must then be replaced by non-European gas. The gas suppliers intend to distribute
