Micro-Elements - Sound

• Begins slow and quiet then picks up volume and becomes jazzy. Think links to type of music used in burlesque dancing. Also the build up of volume creates suspense to the audience

• They are non-digetic sounds where as main character begins singing which is in the film is digetic. This gives a feeling for the burlesque and the insight into the fact the character can sing. The lyrics are sung by big star Christina Aguilera, the lyrics link to the story and dancing.

• The upbeat soundtrack fits perfectly with the type of jazzy music used in actual burlesque dancing, the use of saxophones, trumpets, piano and the clicking of fingers adds to the representation of realism.

Micro-Elements: ActorsThe film stars recognizable actors,

Christina Aguilera and Cher, who are hugely famous and very talented in singing and acting. I believe that if the audience know these stars are in the film they will be more likely to watch as they know they are good. Both actors are amazing singers so this will give the idea that the film is to do with singing, dancing or music. The assumption that it is a love story or ‘chick-flick’ is the fact Aguilera is a beautiful woman which may suggest this along with the showing of a handsome male actor. The possibility of a ‘boy meets girl’.

Micro-Elements: Titles

Big titles have been used which flash up on dark background, this grabs the audiences attention instantly. The colours mostly used are gold and pinks which reflect the glamorous, showy style of this film. The titles are of the main stars and name of film, the famous stars especially draw audiences.

Micro-Elements: Pace

The pace of the trailer began slow but picked up speed, it makes the film seem more

exciting as the pace builds up so does the suspense as to what's going to happen. It is created by the short shots and quick clips of parts of the film, adding to this effect is the

black and white screen cut in now and again, this is a great effect to speed up the trailer.

The excitement and speed excites the audience persuading them to watch the film.

Micro-Elements: Representation

The New York based trailer shows a city scape of the city, which is very realistic as it exists. Along with this the costumes and clothing create a sense of realism

and they are believable as they could be worn by modern day Americans. Also the dancers costumes are very burlesque and realistic in the way they would have

worn similar ones in reality. However I do think it is maybe over glamorised and slightly unrealistic in the

story line but that is expected for the type of film it is.

Micro-Elements: Other

Lighting:

The use of low lighting creates a sexy atmosphere to the film which is what burlesque is however the use of stage lights crates the whole performance and gives authenticity to the fact it’s a show performance.

Costume:

The costumes used are very fitting with the genre and extremely authentic to the burlesque culture.

Dialogue:

The way dialogue is used in this trailer is to keep the audience informed of the story line with out giving the plot away. Odd lines gives an impression of what happens.
