    Vaaler.

    Before Vaalersinvention, papers hadto be held togetherwith pins, or springoperated devices.

    During WWI,Norwegians worepaper clips as a signof patriotism againstthe Nazis.

    They believed it was asign that they werebinding togetheragainst the Nazis.

    Invented in 1913 byGideon Sundback, thezipper soon became avery successful

    product for manyclothing companies.

    It took the place of

    buttons, snaps, andbuckles in all sorts offashion items.

    Scotch tape was inventedin 1925 by a company inMinnesota.

    (later known as 3M)

    Originally, tape was usedto separate the differentcolors on cars as they werepainted, but soon it wasrefined to have sticky glue

    all over the back and wasused by painters,carpenters, and eventuallyalmost everyone.

    The ballpoint penreplaced dipping pensinto ink in 1943.

    The Biro Brothers

    came up with the ideato put the ink inside ofthe pen and in 1944were used by BritishAir Force pilots

    because they wouldwork at high altitudes,unlike regular inkpens.
